I found a little water cooler for $10 at goodwill. It says it will cool 6 glasses of water per 3 hours. It has a 60W compressor in it. What temps would i get? Im guessing 50C. I thought it would be a nice weekend SS.

A 60W comp is too small for any CPU.

maybe ok for a chipset cooler.

first off, wrong forum, secondly, this is all in the stickys and previous posts. if you could overcharge it enough you could probably get it to hold a load, but then you'd risk something going bang, if you tried to put the load of a modern CPU on it it'd probably just turn itself off. These things were ok chillers, back when we all ran Celeron-A's and K6's, think about it...

This is more chilled liquid related.

he was talking about making a SS

A single stage does not designate chiller or any thing at all, it only says the unit will consist of a single stage (and generally one compressor).

well in this forum when someone says SS they usually mean a direct die system, but you are quite right, i was just saying it was kinda pointless to jump the guy and say it was the wrong section

I will go get it tomorow. Im thinking about my radeon 9800...
And yes this will be a DD unit. What refridgerant to use? Butain, propain, or R134a? I'm thinking butain since i pray to get 5C idle.

propane will be better than butane imo. better capacity and you'll need all you can get. use an accumulator and charge it as heavy as you can get away with. You should end up with ok attempts and enough capacity for your cpu.
Edit: Just read your edit, i'd still charge it heavy, as a gpu is still quite a heat dump. seeing as you are planning a direct die conversion, what tools do you have? it would be a shame to rip it all apart only to notice you're missing something important. and can't continue.

It's OK if you don't want to go under 0°C, at 0° with R4** U get a good flowrate for any CPU
