I will get new x2 3800+ cpu and I will use the stock cooler.
it is better to remove the thermal pad on the stock heatsink and apply arctic silver ceramique instead or just leave the stock thermal pad ?

apply a better thermal paste..:) its a cheap solution than worrying about your CPU's temp.. even if its only a 5 or 7 degrees different.. in Ocing its a big factor..

Agreed, if you plan to oc i would definately at least replace the stock pad. However imo i would buy an aftermarket hsf.

As the owner of 3 dual core's, you wont get very far on stock cooling. These run hot even at stock. I'm a big typhoon fan, but I've heard good things about the artic cooling freezer 64. $20 plus shipping at monarch. link (http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=130035&Category_Code=mc_cpuheatsinks)

If you plan to Over clock definetly look for a different cooler and as mentioned above loose the stock thermal pad.

stock cooler works for one thing - stock. Overclocking pretty much needs an aftermarket cooler. The only exception I know of this is the AMD 4 heatpipe cooler that comes with some of the higher-end X2's, it isn't too shabby.

I'll not overclock and I will use the stock heatsink, my question does it worth to remove the stock thermal pad and apply arctic silver ceramique ?

It won't really help since you won't be overclocking, but it won't hurt either. At best you'll get a little more peace of mind knowing that your CPU is running cooler than it would otherwise and could therefore last a bit longer (though really, we're already talking about a 10+ year life expectancy... chances are you're not going to care a decade from now).

it will not help you more than 1 maybe 2c.
Besides AS5 is better for air and water cooling.
the Ceramic is best for Phase and DI

AMD put's Shin-Etsu on there heatsinks, at least thats what I read.
I had a Opteron heatsink, the 4 pipe variety on my 3700, ran it at 2900mhz and heat was never an issue with the stock TIM.......

Yes it'll be better with the ASC. But remember, ASC needs ~100 hours to set I believe, so don't oc before then (that's 100 hours of comp use, not 100 hours on your clock).

The Shin Etsu is much better than the Arcticsilver stuff.
Only the HS crap.
