Hi guys!

Yesterday my Vapochill LS was self-shutdown and the lcd is totally off.
Now i cant boot up the compressor.

I think that the chillcontrol was dead.

When I connect the power cord to vapo ls unit, the blue and red lights tuns on.

There are two cables that comes from the vapo unit.
One from LCD and one from rear case power pcb.

When I connect the cord that comes from rear case power pcb the chillcontrol's blue and red light turns on and I cant boot up the unit.

The LCD shows nothing. No light and no characters. It's simply dead.

I've seen the rear case power pcb fuse and it's ok, so the problem maybe the chillcontrol.

I've disassembled the cables one by one from the rear case power pcb cord and found that the problem is in pin9 cable.

Here is a pic with a red dot on pin9 for better explanation:

If i connect the cable for that pin the red light turns on.
Without that cable connected only blue light is on but i still cant boot up the vapo.

In both cases the LCD is allways off.

I will try to connect the compressor direct to ACV.
I'm sure it will work but i want the unit full working cause with direct link i dont know the exact temperatures to turn on my computer.

I dont tryed it yet because the unit need to stay some hours without power to pull down the capacitor charge. There is too much volts to put my hands on it!

Forgot to say: I've tryed to reset the Chillcontrol by putting jumpers on sensor 2, 3 and 4 (seen on pdf manual from Asetek.com)
No luck!

Anyone have presented this issue/problem?

Looks like i will need to buy new chillcontrol but i think that will be expensive.
I've seen one store selling the Chillcontrol 2 for 159€ and mine is 3.2 :(

Thanks in advance! :toast:

Inside the case(in back, below rear fan) is another green pcb. Check the the fuse. Blew mine.

Like i said before, this isnt a fuse problem.

I've checked the fuse with multimeter and it's good.

I'm really thinking that the chillcontrol is short-circuited. :slapass:

Thanks.

I've put one on/off switch to start up the relay of the unit.

Now it is working without chillcontrol :(

Asetek will send you the test procedure if you email them. You test the power board first to see if it's the problem, and if it's all ok (there's some really cool jumper setups to run the vapo with no CC :D) then you have virtually no tests for the CC. It's just presumed dead.

They give no way to reflash firm on the CC  and I suspect that may be all that's needed on a lot of 'em but no way to prove it as there's no way they give to flash, and they don't release the firm either way.

However they're not that bad sort of. I got told 90 euro shipped to the UK for just the CC.

Anyways, I just had to deal with a dead CC for a customer and they gave RMA on it, was just under the wire. Good news, but still 90 euro isn't too terribly bad.

Heh Gray Mole beat me to it :)

Very likely that your ChillControl is dead, mine did exactly the same thing as what you're seeing and everything else checked out fine. A new ChillControl later and everything is back up and running.

It's CC.

I've taked out the power card and found the two pins that start the relay ;)
Now it's working without CC.

Talked with a friend that have a cooling store called ColdZero. Now i'm waiting for CC arrive the store ;)

Thanks guys. :toast:

Lasac Can you post pics how we could start vapo without CC? My CC is dead too :)

My main PC just went down  or I'd just send it to you, but if you contact Asetek about the problem they will send you the test procedures for the CC and power board.

In that procedure (with pics and stuff) is the pin jumping method to start the fans and the compressor to get the system going.

If there's someone else who's had the problem recently and could post this info then great but the asetek guys will get back to you fairly quick with this if you file a 'ticket' direct to them even when you're not still under warranty.

Cheers

...it probably will take a lot of time to do that cause I live in Ukraine. I just sent my vapo to the official partner of asetek(where I bought it) and he just replased CC from another vapo complect :)
