I'm swapping my small Lian Li for a stacker in a week time or so, and I need a new reservoir for it. I have no idea really, but I don't want alu.(rest of my system is all copper) Btw, I don't want a t-line system, reservoir is a lot quicker to fill/bleed :)

You can get the Swiftech MCRES-Micro from Petratech.
I have 2 of them and like them very much.
They just received a limited amount of them, better be quick because they sell out pretty fast.

I've been looking at that res actually. The only thing worrying me would be the fact that it's all acryllic/plexi. Wouldn't that make it crack very easily? I guess size doesn't matter? :p:

There's always a chance of cracking when using acryl/plexi in a loop, that's the risc you take. ;)
But normally, it shouldn't happen. (no guarantee though)

I'll think about it ;) . But do I have any other good options? I believe I got plenty of space inside the stacker, so I could fit something bigger than the swiftech micro res :p:

The micro res is a good choice. If you want another option nik has some nice res's that he had made up. I am not sure if he has any more for sale though. Besides you'll have to give up two 5.25" bays.

Ok, well I might go for the swiftech micro res thingy then :p:

like he said it, watercooling is always a risk....
you just have to be meticulous about each step of the way...

I've been water cooling for a long time, and I don't think it's a big risk really... But of course, I'm trying to minimize risks as much as possible.

so if u don't want to risk get some metal reservoir.

I like the t-line I am using in my stacker, but it takes too long to get all the bubbles out. With my micro res all the bubbles were gone in the amount of time it took me to take a shower.

That sounds nice, I have the same pump as you as well :) MCP655. (unless you've swapped for dual ddc+) :p:

Btw, I ran across this review, and this guy must be an idiot, right?

Our testing results show that you get a very quiet system with this tank, it has a type of design that makes it run very quiet you don't get as much bubbles and air which usually make the noise. Temperature wise we had some issues as we ran it with our testing rig. We have a custom built system with this tank, Maze 4 , BlackIce Extreme, 2 fans at 5V on rad, Eheim 1048. The CPU that this system cools is a Intel P4 3,8 GHz. With idle temperatures we were up at 50C as the ambient temperature was up to 24C today. Under load we ran between 55-57C which is quite high, comparing this all to a bigger tank we had a 7 degrees higher in idle mode and 10 degrees higher in full load. As we see the small amount of water heats up a bit faster than with a bigger tank as we ran the fans on low speed to keep the system quiet.

I didn't hook up both. I just leak tested with one DDC+.

From his logic a t-line would perform even worse because there is no water tank. I have a swiftech micro and I haven't had any problems with it.

My 5/8" t-line bled in about an hour this past time that I set it up.

I'd recommend a criticool waterplant reservoir, but they are next to impossible to find now since they went out of business.
The alphacool reservoirs look pretty nice imho. Check into those.

Go for a Swifty MC Res Micro :)

Right, I'm ordering some stuff from www.performance-pcs.com, and thought I'd pick up a reservoir at the same time.
What do you guys think of this one? http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=318&products_id=20585
It's looks pretty cool, anyone have pics of it, in a full setup perhaps? I'll mount it internally somehow, btw.
If not, I'll buy the swiftech mcres micro

I've seen a pic of that before on a case. It is relatively big, I don't know where on the inside of the case you'd put it. The mcres micro would probably be better since you have alot more options on where to put it.

Out of the picture, it looks as if it's about 13-14cm tall, and I have 12 5.25" bays :D . I'm using 5-6 of them, so I still get plenty to spare. You don't happen to have a picture of it, no?

I was wondering if you sue the alphacool minitank, would it be a bad idea to use it like a large t-piece, ie. attach a tube to the fill-hole and extend it up from there or would that create turbulence? i figure it would be easier to fill with a tube on it...

The Alphacool mini tank coupled with the 655 pump would be a bad combination.
Flowrate would be so high that bubbles would just endlessly circulate, never having time to accumulate in the tank.
The Swiftech mini on the other hand, has a completely non-intuitive design which works brilliantly.

I like the coolplex res but the swifty is also a good choice if it had more than one routing options. It just depends what fits best imo.

Yes, he is an idiot. I'll be the one to go ahead and say it. These are the same guys that not too long ago talked about how wonderful the thermaltake bigwater kit is if I remember right.
go with the swifty microres
