I have the P5W64 WS PRO MB, I am running 2 GB Kit CORSAIR XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) 4-4-4-12,
I have a 2 GB Kit Crucial Ballistix BL2KIT12864AA804 4-4-4-12 sitting here,
Can I or should I install this Ballistix with the Corsair for 4GB of total ram?
Any draw backs, slow down etc. And also which ram does one prefer.
I do know that it will read only 3 GB I think but still I was thinking 3 GB might be better then 2 GB for Vista..... I don't know.
Thanks, Dan

I just have the ram already from one of my dismantles.

The only real drawback is that you won't be able to OC the ram as far as normally. Moslty simply because you can't OC more than the worst stick will allow, and its a greater cahcne to get one low-OC stick when you have 4 than one.
Right now you don't really need 4gig for anything except perhaps really hardcore specialized work applications. When Vista comes and Vista comes and past that tho... perhaps.

4x1gb will be a touch faster at the same mhz and timings due to the extra bank interleaving :toast:

unless u are running 64 bit or a server edition of windows you wont be able to use more than 2gb. With some tweaking you can utilize 3gb by using it as a pagefile. You would be better off getting faster higher quality 2gb pair instead of the 4gb
