yea pretty sweet. With my X1800GTO oc'd and unlocked at 16p 700/700 and my e6400 at 3.2GHz I score 11230 in 3dmark05 but only 5400 in 3dmark06. I wonder if the extra video ram bandwidth is what pushes you 1000 points above me in 06

SaFrOuT@ Τhe distance between smd' and waterblock is very low , and the waterblock is a bit small so i taped around the core to avoid the block contact with the smd's [on a simple block mevement eg ]

@chron I dont know if mem's do the job only couse those two card's [x1800xl-7900gs] are totaly different core-pcb ect ect. [btw the 7900gs rams are hynix 1.4ns]

Hmm, not convinced.

My DX9 GT4 in 03 was 189fps with highly overclocked 7300GT but top score with 7900GS was 207fps with stock as far as I can tell. True the total score is about the same but we're running volt mods and bench specific values. 5 quads should beat 2 quads after all ....

I didnt look at specific numbers.
With untouched cards I got 15x fps in Aquamark at 3500Mhz.
3D Marks are better with the 7900GS, considering he is using a Allendale.
But I am quite impressed by the 7300GT setup, I thought the gap would be much bigger.
Keep in mind that he is watercooling his card. With the stock cooler scores are lower than what I got running at stock coolers. But again, its Allendale vs. Conroe, so it aint comparable.

Nonetheless the 7900Gs is a damn nice bang for the buck card and 2 of those cards are really,really fast for their money.

I have a question for you Athens, I have a 805D @ 3.6GHZ on Air I have a MSI X1900XT and I get 18000 in 3dmark 2003. I'm thinking of getting a E6300 and clocking it to 3GHZ. I would get a bigger score in 3dmark with E6300 Correct?

On 01-03 you will see a nice performance ,on 05-06 you will see also but not huge as 3dmark01 . As for the watercooling kit it''s an entry one . I suggest to start reading [make a search on xtremesystems eg watercooling kit'' ] so u can set up a custom one .

On air the card likes delta 40, on phase change the card likes best delta 0 or negativ delta. Somthing like -20 or so (about 235 in Nibitor).

Havent done this mod myself, and my card run 840/860, but i think im going to up the volts to 1,7 and remove these two resistors. And maybe try with some dry ice. Then the card would really fly :D

I think the 7900GS are just leftover 7900GT's that needed to be pushed out the door, so they mask 4 pipes and a vertex unit and lower the prices to push them as G80 becomes popular. Why would they go through the extra work which = $$$ to laser cut the pipes? Just software mask them and the average noob should be content rite?

Guys I have some bad news:( and some good news:) . The bad news first. After failing to do the soft mod to unlock the extra pipes, I though it was merely a bios issue and tried flashing my Asus 7900gs with the BFG 7900gs bios. Well it froze halfway through flashing and once I restarted of course I got no picture:( I wonder If I can get it RMA'D??

Now the good news is that once I fubard my card I went out to get a BFG 7900gs oc to see what the hype is all about. Got home, put her in, loaded windows and tried the soft mod pretty much right away and what do you know..it worked...so I'm here scratching my head wondering if it's a bios or software issue at all. After a few minutes I decided to replace the stock hsf with my moded cpu hsf and start testing the card out. Once I cleaned the goop off the core guess what I saw...the card is using a GT core.:D So BFG simply use GT cores and disable the pipes with a soft mod.

Not much I can tell you, the box is pretty clear of stickers. I can tell you that its the BFG 7900GS OC. You just have to take the chance and see.:)

damned impressive clocks man. I'm only able to acheive 700 core on 1.5v and 720 on 1.55v. Ram I can get to 880 with 2.25v, but my graphite keeps seeming to wear off, and after some time, I'm down to 2.2 volts and only able to do 860. Then after some more time, it fades more into the 2.1's and I'm down to 840. Still can't complain though :) Broke 10k in 05 and am not ram limited anyway. Should have gone with bfg. Well done!!

My core is at 1.4v and the Ram is stock. Just scored 11100 in 05 at 670/880.

damned impressive clocks man. I'm only able to acheive 700 core on 1.5v and 720 on 1.55v. Ram I can get to 880 with 2.25v, but my graphite keeps seeming to wear off, and after some time, I'm down to 2.2 volts and only able to do 860. Then after some more time, it fades more into the 2.1's and I'm down to 840. Still can't complain though :) Broke 10k in 05 and am not ram limited anyway. Should have gone with bfg. Well done!!
