I need to cleanup a P5W Deluxe to get it ready for air.
I have the mobo on phase so my socket is full of dialectic grease and I also need to clean the perimeter of neoprene gasket residue and seal string residue...to add to the difficulty the pins are fragile and easy to bend so how do i rinse the grease out without bending a pin?

For the grease I would try a hair dryer and use a paper towel very lightly. As for the residue maybe some rubbing alcohol?

Nah theres some spray compound that will remove most of that crap. Someone should post it in a few moment's.

I can't see why leaving it can hurt.

Im selling the mobo and the grease increases the heat by several degrees.
I want to return the board back to pristine condition for the new owner.

I would just use alcohol that is what i always use and it works good for me just takes time.

I fiqured that, you answered honestly :woot: so I have no reason to think otherwise ,but be sure to be honest in your for sale ad and with the new owner about the history of the board and chip if you sell that also.. :)

You could use a toothbrust with some alcohol to clean the socket.

your best bet is to dissolve it with an appropiate solvent, so you don't bend the pins. acetone might be too harsh, try alcohol first.

Also please test the board works after you have cleaned it.
Such cleaning can kill boards if your unlucky or use the wrong solvent (static being the main issue)

CRC electronics cleaner will clean anything from dielectric grease to bead seal used on mach II units. It disolves without a residue and is completely safe.
