hi guiz
i have a serius problem with my multiplier.....
my hardware are
intel D975xbx revision 305 with ICS954108CFLF clock gen
intel core2 duo E6600 retail
2x1g micron (fatbodies chips)
I am trying to do the trik with ctystalCPUID but nothing.....
the steps i try are these...:
1)open the MSR editor from CPUID and type into MSR number 0x000001a0
2)then i press the RDMSR button
it says EDX(63-32)---> 0x00000040 και στο EAX---> (31-0) 0x62940489
3)i copy all of these exactly but the number 2 into the eax i change it to 1 like the guide but nothing........
i try to change the multi with crystal CPUID but nothing...the CPU-Z 1.36 says x9:confused:
plese give your lights...............i am so confused....:horse:

AFAIK, and correct me if i'm wrong, only the ES Conroes are unlocked (downwards), but retails are unlocked on some of the ASUS boards?

i think u can change multi downward via EIST all the way down to 6, i was able to do that with GA-965-DS3, and P5W DH

EIST scales the multiplier down to 6 to conserve power, it's not the same as manually setting the multiplier.

You can set downward multiplier on the P5B-Dlx and a few of the 975 Asus boards...

i know .. i meant it can be done via EIST. b/c the cpu has EIST function , therefore lowering the multi can be done ....
also yeah like i said i can lower it on DS3 , P5W DH. these r the boards i have touched. now do i need to lower it?? nope, then i would just get E6300. Why spend more money be a sučker

also i badaxe is a good board for me . at least until DFI nforce590, cuz SLI on 965 board is bad, and i happen to own 2 GeForce 7800GTX
i mean P5B DLX is a good board for OCing conroe. i would get that baord if i only have 1 graphics card.

might need to unlock the bad axe bios using the OC DEBUG short mod in order to change the multiplier....been awhile since I've played with a bad axe and i don't remember running too long w/o this mod....just a thought...
