View Full Version : NF7 fsb limitation

ok so after doing the mods and some tweaking here and there, it is possible to hit the 250.57 fsb. But I got a feeling there is more left in those rigs. Is there a way to get those fsb's up higher?
perhaps a modded bios or so?
I thought about a turboPLL but I think it would be pretty hard using that with all the dividers and pci being locked in the southbridge and all.
anybody got a clue?

run a benchmarking proggie (3dmark2001, prime, sisoftsandra test) over and over and over again for say 24hr's, just set the particular proggie to loop

I only burned in using the membandwith test of sandra for about 10 hours

Personally, Ive seen 240 ish highest FSB which was on the Chaintech NF2. All boards are different so its pick of the draw whether yours will go higher, the Epox 8RDA+ is meant to be able to reach 250FSB but Ive yet to see anyone near this, around 230 is the highest.

well I know that, but I meant the bios only allows for us to select 250 as a max fsb. some of us have reached that but I want to go higher ;)

that the max I can select in the bios. I want to figure out a way to beat that.

WOW Nice FSB SektorX! What kind of ram are you using?

SetFSB

Talk to Sysfailur, he knows the PLL ID's.

SektorX, do you have any Sandra pics of your memory bandwidth please? :)

same here, higher CPU MHz tho

this is memory still running dual channel too

http://users.pandora.be/JCviggen/maxFSB.JPG

somebody make a softFSB version for this board (or ABIT should release a BIOS with higher FSB settings)

Bottoming out your FSB and still not satisfied....OMG that sure is the Xtreme Systems spirit!
Nice one! :toast:
No bios corruption at those speeds?

got bios corruption about 15 times sofar. thank god for the bios saviour.
never on 250 though
240- 166-195-210 seem to be the speeds I need to get away from for bios corruption allso cas 2 at anything above 200 :(

i didn't get sandra to run @ 250 yet. 245 was highest for that. still nothing but bad scores though. must be the low cpu speed and crappy timings.
oh well, as far as the timings are concerned I'm very happy that my samsung pc2700 wants to run those speeds @ cas2.5 - 3 - 4 - 4 and dual channel.

for the cpu speed. I'll try another 1800+ at the end of the week and perhaps look out for a nice 1700+ if I can find any here

Good work SektorX, what vdd are you running ?? are you watercooling the nb ?

Tweaked!

Start raising that multi, high fsb is nice, but you've gone too low with the multi, your actual o/c isn't all that much. I'm not trying to knock your accomplishment at all, but now you know the bios limitation w/ fsb, start getting that multi higher.

I would up the multiplier but that cpu is s$^£ it won't boot into windows over 1836mhz @ 1.96V (I'm on still air on the cpu)

yeah I'm watercooling the northbridge and I'm at a pretty high vdd, that screenie was taken @ 2.32V

A little word on BIOS Coruption.

I learnt from Cathar, that if you want to change FSB....upon boot up, hold down the Insert key to boot at 100FSB. And changing FSB at 100 is 100% assured not to corupt. I have since changed FSB hundreds of times (200+) and havent encountered coruption at all.

Holly cow ! I've never seen vdd @ 2.32 !

I thought I had a pair when I went to 2.2v and killed a v1.2 !

How long do you think thats going to last b4 a mosfet blows ?

SektorX

I'm not running that mobo like that all the time. that was only for a fast testing.
the mosfets seem to be pretty cool now. I didn't even put a heatsink ontop of them until I went over 2.1V vdd.
normally this board runs @ 1.98V vdd. and I don't use it as a main pc, so it should hold on for a while. even though it is a v1.1

JCviggen's is a 1700+, he also lives in Belgium so you could probably ask him where he got his from ;)
