I don't know what I did wrong. I had a defective x1900xtx so I sent it to ATI and they replaced it for me. Meanwhile, I had the ATI x800gto in the system for now. Well, I put back the x1900xtx in the system and when going through the boot sequence, I recieve this error:

No enough Space to copy PCI Option ROM [05:02:01]
Press F1 to Resume

Here's a picture of it:
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/3802/picture029ta5.jpg

The system comprises of the following:

PCIX Adaptec 2 channel card ( 1 channel is being used ) and this controller is my 1st boot device since it has my OS.

I have a backup WD 300G drive on the SATA connection as well as my DVDRW ( Plextor )

The Dell monitor I have has a number of USB and memory slots on it as well so I think the boot sequence also refers to those ( not sure ).

Remember, I didn't have this problem before until I put the card back it.

Any clues.?

When I press F1, it boots into Windows without a problem.

try flashing, or reflashing, to the latest bios

Forgot to mention, but I did that as well.

Do you have plug n pay os = yes set in bios? Sounds like you've run out of IRQ's. Leave the usb's on your dell unplugged if you have pugin pay os set to yes.

The MB bootrom cannot hold all of the option ROMS it's trying to. Try disabling secondary HDD controller bootrom.

:zombie: [Do you have plug n pay os = yes set in bios?

It was set to No so I changed to Yes - same problem

In the initial screen I disabled what I could as far as the drive controllers are concerned but the only drive I have is a single WD 400G drive and a Plextor 716 SATA connected. The Raid drives are on a seperate PCIX Adaptec SCSI controller.

Even tried to disable the USB controllers, printer ports etc.

I have ACPI off, not sure if I should put it ON in this case - If I set it on, I assume the os will have to reinstalled?

Funny thing is I didn't have this problem with the other card. All I did was put back my x1900xtx...strange. As mentioned, when I'm fully booted up after pressing F1 and going into xp, everything works fine. No errors in Device manager...nudda.

I'M STUMPED!

I asked Asus with no luck at all and they actually mentioned that it could be the card since when i do install the x800GTO ( which uses the same drive, there's no issue ). Called ATI and they never heard of the problem and are stumped as well. ATI just sent me this card 3 days ago as a replacement for another one I had.:stick:

Well anyway, this will be my final post on this but since the x800gto doesn't cause this problem, I'm just going to assume that the card ATI sent me was defective and will request another card:confused:

I even tried relocating to the other PCIX slot. Tried another x1900xtx and even my latest video purchase - the x1950xtx has the same error ocurring. I know it has to do with IRQ conflicts with the video card but no one can figure this out.

I called Asus - no luck
I called Adaptec but they charge $199 per call!

This is what I have installed:

NO HARDDRIVES other than those on the scsi control card

1 SATA PLEXOR CD player

1 SONY LS120 IDE DRIVE

anyone?

Did that and even put back the original bios for both the motherboard and adaptec 39320A-R adapter.

I give up. The only thing left is the motherboard.

I called Adaptec customer service and after trying many different types of scenarios, there is NO SOLUTION. Apparenty there are issues with the dual channel adaptec controllers ( not the single channel ) and certain pci-x video cards. Apparently, Intel did address the issue but do not have a solution other than downgrading to a single channel adaptor or downgrading through experimentation different video cards.

WHAT DOES WORK:

Adaptec 39320A-R with ATI x800GTO
Adaptec 29320A-R with any video card

WHAT DOES NOT WORK

Adaptec 39320A-R with x1900xtx or x1950xtx:stick:

Adaptec 29160 and 2940 will also display the same message with X1900 video card installed.

I was searching google and this hit came up to the top.

I guess I will switch out to another video card.

The bios on the 29160 does allows you a few ROM disable options, this did correct the boot problem with the exception the 29160 does not have boot device on it, its running a scanner on mine.
