and i am after some really really overclockable ram (extreme stuff).
i have around £250 to spend, less is better remember lol
I need help getting the right ddr2 :(
and which motherboard is best for overclocking ABIT aw9d or the ASUS p5b deluxe?
thanks people

For the RAM, I'd recommend you get TeamXtreme DDR2 667 from Tankguys.com. That's some kick ass overclocking RAM. Overclocks to around 1000+ mhz. And as for the motherboards, the AW9D-max seems to kick ass. I personally don't like Asus after having all the problems with my P5LD2 and overclocking (plus the stuff I"ve been hearing about other asus boards). Plus, the AW9D looks better than the Asus p5b deluxe. =)

There are a lot of good RAM available, I chose Corsair. But I want to recommend you get 800MHz RAM instead of 667 or 533. For a good, stable overclock, you will find the higher speed RAM a better choice. You could go to 1000MHZ RAM, if you want, but is probably not required for a typical 24/7 OC.
Good luck!

I like my mushkin, @ 2.25v it will do 1000mhz and with 2.45v it does 1158.
i'd get either of these:

i bought the pc5400 3-3-3-8 ones and i'm very happy with them, i can run it completely stable at DDR800 3-4-3-4 or DDR1000 cas 4

seconded
mine is doing 1000mhz at 4-4-3-4[-2] on 2.2v (within warranty range!)
though lower voltage and higher clocks are possible, i simply stopped fiddling with it. just too awesome.
and the new 3-3-3-8 kit is supposed to be even better.

excellent replies guys !! much appricated :)
right i think i have been convinced to get some team xtreme memory :)
AndrewZorn whats this new kit? link?
and im very tempted by the Abit :) but i think the asus is better for overclocking. ?
this is great
so Gskill team extreme hmm :) ? :(
so do you not think ddr800 would be better? so what is 1000mhz in terms of fsb on 1:1 divder? (ino there isnt fsb) but this value on cpuz what would it be?

For conversion -> http://www.xe.com
427 USD = 224 GBP at the time of writing.
Customs and Excise charge will come into play unless you get friend/relative to send it over and mark package of having a value LESS than around 60 USD. Marking things as "Gift" does NOT evade C&E.

I can't seem to find a shopping costs page on their site. The only way to check it would seem is to create an account so you can get part way through the checkout where it would show you shipping. I'm not even sure they ship outside of USA and Canada... best email them and ask :)
They do state on the following page at the bottom http://www.tankguys.biz/shipping.php that...
"NOTICE: We will NOT list a reduced value on the customs forms, and we will NOT ship them as a gift!" for Canadian customers. As such, even if they do ship to the UK you would very likely get hit with C&E charges, which in total could turn out a lot higher than if you had simply waited for a UK company to start stocking them.
Personally, I'd go for some G.Skill GA PC5400 http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=116296 The 5400 results are further down that thread in this post http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1732342&postcount=19
They reach almost the same speeds as the G.Skill GA PC6400 but, as you will see shortly, are almost half the asking price.
They can be found here...
