ATI releases Catalyst 6.9

The new version of ATI's driver suite introduces CrossFire support for the Intel 965 Chipset.

This feature is available for D3D applications, and is supported on ATI Radeon® X1900 CrossFire edition products. As with most Catalyst® releases, performance has increased in various situations.

* 3DMark2006 overall performance improves 6.7-23.7% with anti-aliasing enabled due to improvements in HyperZ efficiency on the Radeon® X1300, X1600 and X1800 series of products. The largest gains can be seen on Crossfire™ configurations and/or 256MB card configurations at resolutions of 1280x1024 or greater
* Doom3 performances improves up to 9.3% due to further OpenGL shader complier and transform engine optimizations on the entire Radeon® X1000 Series of products. The largest gains can be seen on Radeon® X1900 configurations at resolutions of 1600x1200 or higher This feature is supported under the Windows XP operating system.

Well, I haven't had the chance to try it yet, I plan on getting a set of X1900's within the next few weeks. I desperately need more GPU power for my LCD when gaming and the X1800 Crossfire I ran with my AMD rig was excellent. I can't imagine that 16X4 will make a huge difference in gaming, might hurt benchmark performance, but gaming should be OK. I hcan't wait to see some other people's results myself.

i have a couple of air coolers coming in tomorrow so that I can transplant the X1900 cards from my benching rig into my gaming rig. i will post some results tomorrow.

Because most people with 965 either>
a) can't afford CF
b) don't have a master card because the chipset didn't support it

:p:

I hope your results are good!

I am praying for good results myself, I was just getting ready to dump my board for a 975x. I got this DQ6 for free so if this works well I am saved!
