I'm building a new system and need a new PSU. I've read many good things about both, and even that the Corsairs are made by Seasonic. So the question is, should I pick up one of the Corsairs, wait for the M12, or get an S12 (not modular)?

Both are excellent PSUs, the Corsair was one of my choises in buying a new PSU but unfortunately, I couldn't find it where I live, so I bought the TT Toughpower 750. The Seasonics are very good too, but they are expensive. If you can afford a Seasonic, I suggest you go for it. If not, take the 620HX and you won't regret it!

Actually the Seasonic S12-600 costs $160 at newegg, and the Corsair HX620w costs $180. I don't think the M12 is out yet but it would probably cost >$160. The Corsair and M12 are tempting because modular cables to keep the case neat would be great.

Owner of a new HX520W

Its silent, real silent. Even powering a 7950GX2 and a E6700 through a night of 3dmarks.
The ribbon cables are nice, they are long and you can squeeze them under the motherboard for a very tidy look.
Nice flat black casing, no lame LED fan.

------------
The 4pin and 8pin motherboard connectors are not modular. So you are going to end up with one you aren't using.
The 520W uses yellow text on the casing, but its 24pin connector uses red highlights...

Yea I think I'm going to go with the Corsair HX620w. The fact that it's modular bumps it ahead of the S12 for me, and seeing that the M12 isn't even out there's no sense in waiting for something that hasn't been proven.

I've been using my HX620W for a few weeks now, and I really like it. It's probably the most quiet PSU I've ever owned.

Isn't corsair psu made by seasonic?

I currently own S12 and it is really great, rails within range and quiet.

Xoxide has seasonic 600w s12 for $144 plus shipping

jonny guru says that the only bad thing about the Corsairs is this:

"Separate fixed cables for both 4-pin and 8-pin EPS+12V connectors"

Is that a legit complaint? I don't even know what those are to be honest (not yet at least), but Corsair is my first choice right now. If the M12 line comes out soon then I'd rather get one of those.

Other French review, you can use Babelfish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/) for translating it. (while not perfect, translation should be generally understandable)

I'm considering upgrading to the HX620W in the future, looks like a winner.

I saw an ad for the Seasonic M12 in the Computer Shopper magazine and Newegg, ZZF and a few others were listed as retailers. So the M12 should come out soon in the US. I would go with the Seasonic but if you can't wait then the Corsair will be fine.

Prefer the genuine Seasonic myself, but neither of them is likely to leave you noticeably worse off :)

CoolZone, Do you intend to buy it from US with shipping to EU or buy it yourself in US while travelling?
In first case you'll very propably (nearly 100% sure) have to pay around 20% or more extra for import/taxes.
After that European price could be quite same. (then again USD is in nose dive compared to EUR)

:)Must be some sagging... in most European countries standard is 230V.
