I want to made Raid0 for bench komp.
I wondering how to do it cheap and good performing Raid0
I know that I can buy 2 x raptor 74G (for about 200$ used)
But maybe alternative is 3x80G 7200 ??
I was thinking of 3x 80G seagate 7200.9 ST380811AS (for about 180$ new in Poland). Buy used Raptor is not easy in my country :(
What You think ?

3 x 80 could yield a bit better trasnfer rates than 2 Raptors. But I would consider doing 4 x 80, it is always better to use a multiple of 2, or best a power 2 (2, 4, 8..) drives in RAID0.
Prolly a better option are 2x7200.10 Seagates. The performance is almost as good as Raptors (some reads will actually be faster - I never figured why), and would be about 200$ for new ones (250GB)

I don't know which is better. For Raptors the revision makes a big difference (on 36/74 models), but I really don't know for Seagates.

Are the Segate 7200.10's priced well over there? Over here the price : performance ratio is favoring the 250GB model of the 7200.10's. 250GB of storage with perpindicular recording technology, NCQ, and a 16MB buffer all for under $100CDN. They do also have an 8MB buffer model of the same capacity hard drive, but at only $5 less I can't imagine why anyone would bother.
I would suggest using 2x36GB Raptors. They are fast and very good for benches. If you don't want raptors, my vote goes to Hitachi T7K80, I have seen that they perform extremely well, especially in Raid-0 ;)
