View Full Version : Mount HDD upside down?

now guys, i know that in general we can mount hdds in perpendicular angles. like 0º or 90º. straight up, on its side, flat, etc etc, once they arent like angled.

but can we put it in upside down? which is what i assume would be pcb facing to the ceiling? lemme know thanks and clear up any misconceptions while ya at it if you so desire.

I have heard several times that the bearings are not made for it and it's not good. I am not sure I buy that since the bearings should be symmetrical.

They might also be airflow issues, if there are holes pointing upwards.

The pCD will not give as much heat to the air as the plain metal. Be sure to put extra cooling, that's the minimum.

In my view, there's no difference. I can't say for sure about bearings, but I used my hdd upside down for years with no sign of degradation. As for airflow, I think it's even better, because it's the pcb that overheats, not the top cover...

After seeing several computers run for years with their HDs upside-down and no problem I can't see why you can't.
