iv just installed a dvd rom in my new pc so i can play games and i cant seem to get it to open any games. i get an error each time i try to open something such as "d:/ is not a valid win32 application" this is when trying to play nfs mw. i noticed when i installed the os that the drive said slave instead of master. could this be the problem? what difference does it make if it is not master? thanks for any replys in advance.
my spec is,
core 2 duo e6600
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
WD 250 sata HD
Kingston Value Ram 1g

connect the drive either ide1 or ide2 on it's on with nothing else connected to the cable and set the dvd drive to master. post back if that helps.

when it is connected to primary ide it says "only part of the readprocessmemory or writeprocessmemory was completed" when connected to the secondary it says "detecting drives, please wait" at startup and wont let me get any further not even to bios.

there is a jumper on back of drive - set it to cable select, then plug it into a ATA cable with nothing else on it.. plug it into any plug along that cable.. c if that helps.. if not, mayb bad drive... what make is the drive? is it new?
