Hi ALL. My Prometeia arrived yesterday from Denmark, and of course DHL shipped it resting on every box surface, but the bottom. It was obviously on it's side as the "seam" around the compressor has dented the bottom side-panel. Well I checked it out, and could "see" no apparent damage, so I simply tried to test it, by slipping an Antec in the top of the empty case, and shorting pins 13/14 on ATX connect to mobo, and of course attached power to 12V molex. The system immediately made an "hissing" sound as if it were pressurizing itself, by displacing any air in the line? It stopped after 4 seconds, but then the only noise I heard was the two fans spinning. It sounds too silent. The temp remained at ambeint (which happned to read "13:0" with the top half of the colon blinking) I waited almost 5 minutes, yet the temp remained at 13C, and the micro-freezer "core" did not frost up as they said it would? I belive the problem may be in the compressor, isn there anyway to trouble shoot the unit? I also read someone screwed up there LED control with their TV remote? I was using my remote last night, but would that effect/prevent the system from temping down? I actually tapped my finger against the microfreezer, and it was warm enough to touch, when I did the temperature rose, so I guess the sensor's working?
I even tried attaching the Power, and Reset Switch thinking perhaps a circuit was broken? That had no effect. So I'm puzzled, and I sincerely hope they insured the unit. Perhaps there's something I'm missing, something obvious? ANY help would be very much appreciated (and I already emailed Chip-Con).

Sounds like something may of happened in the shipping of it... :stick:

I'm sure you'll get it resolved with your current one or get a new unit. Best of luck though :)

Is the "hissing" noise I described a normal start-up sound? Such as I described; "A displacemnet of air or pressurizing...". How loud is your unit? Was/is it VERY silent?

if you really hear a hissing sound........well i am sorry.this is not normal for any compressor.
but i could almost asure you the unit has a leak in the hose.and by your description of the problem i bet the hose got dammaged in shipping.
you should email chip con for help or warranty.

Thank's Bowman, your correct. Since the hissing sound only lasted about two seconds, and ceased. I thought perhaps it was a normal "de/pressurizing" start-up event. However, Chip-Con emailed me, and said their sure it was damaged from being layed on it's side. I witnessed the driver bring it in my building loaded on it's side on the hand-truck, and I can't lift do to the spinal injury I suffered MTB racing, so when he asked if I needed him to bring up to my room I said yes. After saying "...that should be shipped right side up" he then reloads it on it's side again! Doh. Anyway Chip-Con is shipping a new unit! And I'm to await instructions for this one. BTW they have some of the best customer service I've yet to experince. Great company!
