The HDD stops formatting at 2% ... never moves.
if i pick quick option, then it works in 5 secs
then i install windows and when it says there 17mins remaining, blue screen of death comes up.
how can i get the hdd to format properly?
i tryed XP home and XP Pro btw

if you have windows 98 setup, make a boot up and run FDISK
I hope that will wipe it.

You can always try to debug your HDD first.

Please tell me you are not attempting an install on an overclocked machine.

This was a 80gB that was made from Samsung (what the heck were they thinking) same deal , stops at 2 % so I try the old freezer wrap ,goes in for a day .(lots of data on it) Comes out like cold salmon ,removed from freezer bag ,straight in ,blessed it .And it worked ! for about 2 days (was enough time to get it all ) But was going going gone .Samsung should not be making HD. Glad you got yours going ,thought I'd share since same deal ,kinda.

You could try Ultimate Boot CD (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) - there are a lot of good tools for testing and managing the HDD, plus more ;)
