Hey guys it is time for me to buy a new drive and I would like to get some suggestions on drives. What would you buy in the $75-$120 range.
Thanks...

I have the SATA Plextor drive. It's awesome. Plus, no more damn IDE cables!
$120 at Best Buy. So maybe cheaper online if you look around?

That drive sometimes has problems with certain SATA chips on motherboards. Plus its just an IDE connection with an internal SATA converter. A part you can pick up for less then $20.
Like most things plextor, no where near worth what they charge for it.

Look for a Lite-On or LG drive.

With all my respect...Plextor is a real piece of crap. This brand does not manufacture any optical drivers by itself, the optics is not good! The best DVD-RW/Ram is NEC ND-4551-A,I guarantee it,as I have recorded and copied more than 10 000 thounsand discs, this is my job (not all discs on one drive,of course).

Lite-On is one of the best and you can easily pick up 3-4 of them < $100 They can burn pretty much anythihng. I suggest you get one dvd reader for ripping and one to burn.

Just bought and installed one - it rocks. Replaced a Plextor 740A. It's my 4th NEC drive - all have been great.

Another vote for NEC. I have the ND-3550A, my brother has one, my friend has one - for $30 ($35 after shipping) you can't go wrong and they work great.

I own two of the ND-3550A's as well and they are great. I got my second one for ~$20 shipped a while back. I just hadn't seen the model mentioned above.

I use samsung 18x and nec 35xx series. They both work great and i recommend NEC (stable used for 3-4 years now). I wanted to get samsung for my new system because it can burn my 16x disc at 18x.

I recommend

NEC any series
Samsung 18x drive

only about 30bucks a piece on newegg

I don't know how people buy burners at retail stores for ~$100, maybe I should buy a bunch from newegg and stand outside best buy and sell for half of what's inside
