Hi all,

I'm new here and signed up for showing you my problem.
At the end of the last two tests in 3DMark06 I get horrible glitches looking like theese: klick me (http://www.directupload.net/show/d/810/3y3qs2Jn.jpg)

I get 6200 3DMarks with the OCed Core 2 and optimized RAM settings and so on, so the result is OK. The card is not OCed and I tried Catalyst 6.8 and 6.9 beta. Also, I installed Windows Vista RC1 and get the same problems.

I've used the search-function and couldn't find anyone else with this problem here @XS, but in a German forum (www.forumdeluxx.de) there are other people having the problem.

I contacted HIS Support last Sunday but haven't recieved an answer up to now. Most probably it is a hardware defect and I need to RMA the card.

Does anyone have another idea which I could try or what could be the problem?

Thanks,
sid

As far as I can tell, it could be a heat problem, psu failure, card failure, or driver problem. I would get those kinds of glitches on my oc'd 6600GT when it was reaching its top OC, but temps were high as well.

You can try increasing airflow, clean install of windoze, driver cleaner + new drivers, make sure your psu is performing correctly, etc.

Honestly, with your hardware and your oc'd core2, I doubt temps or psu are the problem. I'd just try new drivers, then RMA the card if nothing else works. I know it stinks to wait on hardware replacement, but I think it stinks worse to have that good a card that artifacts at stock.

Good luck!

P5W DH in bios under chipset section disbale PEG link control and set PEG link mode to normal and see if it helps

Also maybe set power from AUTO to heavy

Unfortunately your ideas didn't solve the problem.

I already tried once to increase airflow to 100% constantly then I got less glitches, but they were still there.

Think RMA is the only way to solve the problem and probably I'll even get a X1950XTX :) (but I think not...)

I'll wait some mor days, probably someone else has another good idea. When I bring it back I'll probably buy the cheapest PCIe card they have to keep the machine running.

Thanks a lot,
Sid

Edit: I've set fan speed to 100% again and got much less glitches, the temperature was 68° at it's highest point during the run.

I had a similar problem with my card, it'd artifact without the fan at 100%, and even then it'd still do it, usually after 5 minutes of a graphically intense game, or at the end of a 3D run. Now my card won't even run at 380/480 with the fan on 100%, won't even boot most of the time. RMA it, sell the replacement card and get a 1950 :)

It has to be your core artifacting, if it was the card ram it would freeze or reboot without warning. I would RMA it.

I brought the card back to the shop. They'll test it and then send it back to HIS. Until I get a new one, in about 2 - 8 weeks :(, I'll use my laptop since I don't have another card.

Maybe grab yourself a cheap 6600GT to tie you over ?
