915Mhz core without mods, stock cooler? O_o
aww thats a lot!
Tell me that you are gonna mod it an pair it with something more powerfull :)
Would love to see what its capable of.
Edit: Lol I am a moron, but 660Mhz is still very nice without mods.
Nice bang for the buck card.

Nice results, though it would hardly be called an upgrade from a 7900GT :p:...
Nice for people who need something to hold them over until DX10 arrives :)
(About the 7900GT thing.. That's just me, thinking aloud about upgrade plans I can't afford anyway :p:)
Best Regards :toast:

is this the pre-overclocked version or the regular version?
and this is on stock air?
im looking to get the non-overclocked XFX, and put a maze4 on it.

Why should it be? This card is at a lower price point and it has less pipes than a GT.

Crazy clocks denny, but why are the scores so low?
X1900 AIW rapes this card @ 205$ and the x1900GT should also...
With the 240$ X1900XT deal on, I cant see why anyone would want to save the 40$

maybe you should try E6300 @ 3G with 1:1 ram + X1900GT no mod
and let me know the score
and 3dmark06 is like

40...that is a lot of money
selling a machine i don't even got 60 over 1400

You even have Allendale!
My 06 score was about the exact same as what you did, I do not have a picture though. I only ran 06 because my internet was down and I was bored! LOL!
still haven't answered if it was stock cooling or not.

yes the stock cooling
the very small one only cover the GPU not GDDR3

X1900AIW @693/693
AIW.... how much is that?

ZZF had a deal on them for 149$ a while ago.
It uses alot of power though, you need a great PSU to run much over 1.3vcore on GPU.
I benched 01 @ 702 core @ 1.3v :)
Stock clocks are 500/477 2D all the time.

ok with stock voltage how much you can overclock?
mine 7900GS using stock voltage and cooling
if everything is good really better than 7900GS. then i just going to get x1900 AIW for the system
but i can't change the voltage to sell it

AIW uses same volts as 2d clocks on XT.
Voltages are easily changed in ATI TOOL.
1.3vGPU is less than 3d on X1900XT/XTX
It will pull ALOT of power -- Ive seen PWMS get to 95C with no fan.
I have seen 53 Amps in ATI TOOL with 1.3vcore, card ~150W usage.

no
i can't tell my customer like
ok here is the ati tool. go home and change to 1.3v
and it brings up my system price. not a lot of ppl wanna buy some pc over 1500$
so 7900gs is still my better choice i guess...
but x1900aiw is a really good card for overclocker but not normal user lol
and.... although is it like 10$ difference....
if
1. no ati tool needed nor vmod card
2. no use too much voltage
3. noise low
i will love to buy this for my customers hehehehe
cuz that 1 year warranty is killing me hehehehe

fhpchris....how do you figure 150W? 1.3x53 << 150. Yes, there's RAM and PCB inefficiency, but that won't double the energy used.
Also, any numbers on how it clocked with stock volts (1.2V, no?)?
EDIT: it would be very interesting to see the new 7900GS pitted directly against the AIW...for fairly obvious reasons (not just cause Denny wants it either :p: )

Yes, AIW isnt good for normal user, only good overclocker like you.
The stock heatsink is crap too.
1400$ is tight, I had to build a comp for friend @ 1500$

75W for PCIE slot + 53*1.3 = ~145 ish
Stock voltage is like 1.175 :(
How will you change clocks without ATI tool anyway? Just put voltage change in profile :)

the machine i post.... that is 1400 sold price XD
of cuz i still have some $$ and cover ebay + paypal fee
yeah 1400 very tight $$... computer business got hard to gain $$... sad
AIW for me..... hummmm i use 7950 XD
but hey if i only have 1500. i will go for x1900 aiw with good power!
really looks better than 7900gs.....
or maybe just 7900gs with hard vmod up to 1.3~1.35v
that can do 700~750+ for sure!

How will you change clocks without ATI tool anyway? Just put voltage change in profile :)It doesn't always pull 75W....in fact, it rarely does (and it can go over or under as it pleases, for the most part). Anyway, all R580s do pull a lot of energy, but considering 130W is pulled by a stock XTX (higher volts and similar clocks to your card), there's no way this thing will pull 150W w/o going past XTX spec (which you haven't, for the most part). Anyway, neither here nor there...it will use more power than what the 7900GS will use, but probably not enough for Denny to change the spec on his PSU.
And, yeah, Denny....he has a good point about using ATi Tool to store voltage profiles tandem with clocks.

MSIMAX is running 1.425 vcore on his AIW, and it trips over current protection on his PC Power & Cooling 510W Deluxe!
I do not see other X1900s doing that. I think all the TV tuner stuff makes up the difference here, I didnt really understand it myself.
It does not really matter, as it will not run that high vcore on the stock heatsink -- I could only really coax 630 core on that....
With the 239$ X1900XT, it just isnt worth it getting a AIW unless you want to record TV.

heheh that is good one
but still if that really uses a lot of power and generates heat.... i probably stay with 7900gs.... quiet and max load is about 65C under full load XD
however.... i feel why ati doesn't wanna pull 1900gt down to ~200..... otherwise 7900gs really takes a lot of market....

I do not think the heat is that bad, It seems to only put out the same ammount of heat as a x1900XT @ 1.3vgpu, which isnt much.
IIRC my load temps were less than 65c.
I think you are right, 7900gs is cheaper and is a better choice untill the new x1950 pro is out. x1900 AIW and GT are expensive now and hard to find.
