I just got my new rig put together but im having problems OC'ing the x1900 xtx. I have an ATI x1900 xtx. With my old machine I had a Sapphire xtx, which I have since sold, I could get near 14.5k in 3d05. this one I can barley get to 700/800 with out the computer crashing?
Im using ATI tool .25 v14, and the cat 6.8's.
I could get past 850/950 with my old machine with atitool 13b and 6.3's? Does any one have any idea's why this card isn't over clocking?
well with stock cooling and v about 700\800 is all most will get
have a look here for some other overclocks

Why don't you try ATiTool Beta 13 again, maybe that is the problem.
But 850/950 on air? Thats only possible on water, if that.

Yeah I was confusing the clocks, I havent used one these cards for about 4 months, I checked old screen shots and the max I was able to finish a 3d05 run was with 789/913.5 but that is still SO much higher then with x1900 by ATI, I should have kept the Sapphire I would have figured they would all OC around the same, I guess not.
EDIT:
Ok now I am really confused, I went back to ati tool .25 b13, NOW even with voltage at 1.45 on the core of this card I cannot even get the core to 650Mhz?? I tried using ATItool and while scanning for artifacts I inched up 10mhz at a time to 650mhz and the screen filled up with artifacts and I had to reboot. This is with CPU at stock clocks? I really have no clue whats up, is my card maybe bad?

I've been using a XTX for 3 months (and reading a lot of threads, here and in ocforums) and those clocks (800/910+) are all in WC or better.
Are you totally sure you can get those clocks with air? The best so far with my sapphire xtx is 725/855 with 1.550v, and 3dk05 finished 1 out of 10 times. Not saying you're lying, but if that's true, you should start :brick: yourself for selling that Sapphire :(. Do you have any screenshots? I would love to see those results on air :slobber:
I've found the ocforums thread with the OC table:
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=440151
Anything higher than 720 is done on WC, PC, DICE, or extreme air solutions.
Still, I repeat I don't think what you're saying is not true :p:
Sorry, I can't post my screenshots because the st**d Vista doesn't recognize my raid.

These clocks are possible with overclocker that slows down timmings etc not with Atitool ;)
This is my second Sapphire X1900 XTX and any of this two card can do more than 700~720 on gpu and 800~830 on mems with stock cooler.
With water i can run 01 @ 751/886 and 846/963 with prommy mach2:

My favorite version of Atitool is b13. The card seems more stable for me.
For 3D01 i'm using Cat6.7 and find no problems but i didnt test any other drivers with this system.
Give us some feedback.

read my last post, some of my clocks are confirmed in the 3d05 data base also. Right now my main concern is why cannot I get the core past 650 with out crashing? thats is pathetic for an xtx. The Memory is okay, it seems to be stable up to 870.

Have you stoped the "Ati HotKey Poller" service?
Try Atitool b13, i think that b14 has some bugs (b13 works better for me).

That looks sweet. Black, copper and red :)
I think you can't set 650MHz cause you haven't increased your 2D voltage yet. Disable the services, and try again.

Btw, now that you say i actually think that the problem maybe with voltages, if not try atitool b13.
I've had some problems with one atitool verison. I can't remember what version is but probably was b14.
Good luck.

Well,
I currently am using atitool b13 and voltage is good, I have it set to 1.45, and the other 3 settings increased by about .15v. I would think 1.45 to the core would be enough to get it past 650. Also I do have hotkey poller disabled. I'm ready to ebay this card and try my luck with another one.:(

The default XTX voltages was: 1.425v gpu and 2.089 mems.
1.45 will be more than enough.
You still cant pass 650?

if i make increments of 5mhz on the core once I pass 650->655 the screen will artifact up and some times crash. I know on the sapphire I could at least set the clocks to 800 and it wouldnt crash UNTIL i tried to do any thing related to 3d. I know some thing has to be up, Its hard to beleive its hardware related because the card runs flawlessly with the ATI services enabled at default clocks, the only problem is I cannot OC it!

Maybe you can try to flash Sapphire bios.
Else, try ATI Winclk and see if it works:

Is it safe to flash to a diff MFG's Bios? I will try it as long as I know I have nothing to worry about.

I see some people flashing Sapphire's XTX Bios to PowerColor X1900 etc without problems.

just an update, as i am the one who has the Sapphire card.
i just got the rig put together so i havent had much time to play with it.
but under ATI Overdrive the "max it wants to run" without using ATITool or Riva is 694/774 pretty decent in my book for a "safe" overclock from the manufacturer
