9-10 million a day with 5 systems....
So talk to me Oh MJ12 Guru: what can I do with 4 systems running here with that line..any hardware I need to maximise it and see you guys to #1?:D
House is all CAT6 wired on Netgear gigabit switches BUT 10/100 router. My understanding is that Verizon brings in a wireless DLink router when they install but I do like my old Netgear RT 314..

Do Vms help much when you have a big line but a limited number of systems ?

I have it on my area, too bad that i have no time to kill my roadrunner cable and switch to verizon fios. If I have the time for the installation, I would switch isp. Maybe in 3 months im going to get that 30mbit line.. its gonna do wonders for my home server. price aint that bad either.

Thats cool. :)

As far as i know running virtual machines is really helpfull for MJ-12. Get nnsteps XSOS and vmware server, then run it 20x - should be enough ;)

edit: Just continued running maj12 - the router isnt really usefull@wcg, 1 wu would need more than 20 H.

Shall I be preparing to get out of your way then to avoid any tire tracks been left? :p:, damn college means the p3 ends up being off most the day and my MJ-12 plumets so I can't even run. :(

MJ12 and Vm wont work.. You see, MJ12 uses WinRAR to archive.. The HD would be so taxed it wouldnt even be worth to run.. than their is severe fragmentation.

8-11 million a day Dave if you got 5 machines going. I know my single box is good for about 2 million a day and thats running with a 100% load on the BOINC client as well.. Expect an extra 500K a day if you arent crunching.

I'd invest in a good router (maybe a smoothwall) if you plan on having a lot of comps (though I heard smoothwall + Fios=:nono: ).

:banana::banana::banana::banana: YOU DAVE :(

i know, im just jealous and and bitter at the probable loss of my slice of pie :(

get a smoothwall if you know what's good for you ;)

also, on the archiving note, the builtin archiving is most probably better than running winRAR anyways, as LZMA is a superior algorithm in both speed and compression.

He will be ok because he will be DHCP... all the new installs are DHCP.

I WILL be bugging you for advice on using this to the max. At the moment just 2 machines running as the old DX700 is retired and the P4GD1 is sold and haven't gotten that dual socket opty up yet but thats my next priority.
Hey, this is the little kid in me. Just want to help you guys get to the top in MJ12.:D
Won't guarantee 100% every day but I'll do as much as I can with it.I do run a server so that will take some BW.
Talked with the guy doing the drop today. He tells me that people are seeing the full 15mbit down and between 1.7-2.0 mbit up.

Can't you get the DX700 to run MJ12? :)

Bloody_Sorcerer

a DX700 would make a solid dedicated MJ12 box
that or a really kickass smoothwall :p:

Expensive to run for just that..a dual 350 watt PSU..That's why I pulled it from crunching. Was doing 450 a day in Rosy at the time..My elec this summer almost killed me..Wheb it gets to buying food or running a machine, the machine loses..Kept the 2 best ones running, sold the P4GD1 and retired the DX700..I still am looking for another Opty 266 for that dual socket Opty board..

No video yet. The towns here think they can "hold up" Verizon like they did the cable companies, so Verizon went to the statehouse and made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
Let Verizon compete or the next time the tel lines would be updated would be in the next millenium..:D
I lucked out because my tel exchange is the same as Nashua( large city)
Where I live they roll up the streets at 9pm..I think there are 4 cops in the whole town and one arrest last year total.

I have two goals:
1) To see Xs pass team Norway and bury them deep..real deep!
2) To catch Carlfrs and that will happen soon.
Was over 1/2 billion when I started this rundown on him and now at app 100 mil.. I'll get him soon..

Ive already downloaded over 2 gigs since i installed it recently. Hope we can provide a serious lesson to the Nordics :)

Is there any way to set M12 not to use such a big % of the connection when I am using the computer?

regards

Yes, open it up..
Go to tools/options/connection and turn down the speed..

I'm only 45 min south of Nashua but no Fios yet :(

Quite envious, though I do have a good cable line, still that's not fiber...

Enjoy MM!
