Looks good to me. Just make sure you get a PCI express (2x, 4x) based RAID controller .. and you should be good. Maybe a C2D based system . but i don't really see much of a point since your just programing 70% of the time. Though the video editing would surely benefit from a C2D.

Read this article and then i think you can make a more educated decision: Link (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core2duo-shootout.html)

If you NEED 95% uptime or better ECC would be a FAR better choice.
Get two of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146523
Edit:
Plus ASUS is not the thing to get for AMD boards.
I suggest you look into Epox or Gigabyte if you wish for a Server board, or DFI/MSI if you wish to overclock

After seeing your reply, I realize that my requirement (95% uptime) wasn't bein interpreted correctly. I just meant that once the m/c is up, stable and in regular use, I would like to keep it that way for as long as possible. It's not a production m/c, so I don't really need ECC. Not going to overclock much and the DFI NF590 SLI-M2R looks good, but it's got a fan on it. I'll take a look at Gigabyte.

Thanks for taking time to reply.
