Im new to the term "lapping"
What is Lapping?
What are the Benefits of "Lapping"
All i can tell is that it is mounting something on to another......
im getting left behind with all this new slang lol

Ok, I'l bite. It's sanding the contact surface of your heatsink and or the ihs of the cpu in an attempt to get it as flat as possible.

yes and also increase heat transfer rates.
lapping is also the act of taking your tongue very quickly licking....

It can be done on anything known to be flat not just granite. People usually use a small squarish sheet of glass. I use a 3"x3" sheet of glass.
