Do PCI-e wireless cards exist?

I want to get the new ABIT mobo for my C2D but this 1x PCI slot jazz is really pissing me off.

I desperatly need to find out if there are PCI-e wireless cards that exist and if anyone can link me!

Why would you need PCI-E? Theoretical 802.11G peak throughput is using only half of USB 2.0's bandwidth...

Plus if you use a USB adapter you can move the antenna around to find the best reception and since the data is sent over USB there will be no signal loss like other internal cards that have external antennae.

So your saying that USB wireless adapters work better than PCI ones? I kind of figured that they were just generic solutions that were good for web surfing and nothing else.

FPS's will likley suffer horribly. Less latency dependant games will be affected less.

I never had an isue playing CS with a rather crappy low end netgear router which i had for about 7 yars, it ran just fine up until the point where i hardwired the house(I didn't want to f' with wireless support under linux and figured it was inevitable anyway)

using a wireless router, my ping was as low as 7ms and I'm at the opposite end of the house - also signal strength was only "fair" at best.

that wireless= bad for gaming is total BS, in most cases 2 millionths of a second don't really matter.

Na, the olden days of wireless = bad FPS online experience are over. Its really not any worse than being connected. I just wanted to make sure USB 2.0 adapters worked since I had never tried it. The more and more I look, the complaints about mobos only have 1 or 2 PCI slots seem dumb.

It really depends on your wireless environment though... AT one point I was trying to access my router through 3 internal walls and one external wall at about a 20m distance ( I was livingin in a guest house). I used a 5db gain directional antenna and got decent overal throughput, but I would get signal drops for a few 100ms every now and then when people would roam the house or open the fridge door or something like that. Also, the rain effected reception...

I am now looking back at wireless again because Google just set up a free network for everyone in my home town, but I am still warry due to previous experiences.

just bulid a quad antenna and mount it on a satelite dish. you can send miles away then!:D

i play cs:source on wireless...its not that bad. the wireless zero service service = disabled, im using the (resource hog) linksys software. but i dont get any lag spikes every 30 seconds anymore.

just get a USB wireless adapter. at least you can move the antenna around.
