and of course, it's worth mentioning Xilleon will be embedded on future Radeons...ie...more than likely R600.

Could this also be the reason for ditching the All In Wonder brandname? Does this mean that all future generation 3D cards from ATI will be AIW by default and that they will drop the name?

w00t!

Looks tasty if Helmore's suggestion turns out to be accurate :D

Pretty intesting. Didnt know that ATI made chips for digital TV's.

UVD (Xilleon-on-gpu) is for processing a high-bandwidth digital signal, which on desktops will probably be limited to H.264/VC-1 (BD/HD-rom's codecs). Not really related to the I/Os of the AIW, although I imagine it could be used for HDTV if a tuner were included. I doubt future iterations of standard graphics cards will include tv tuners. Think of HDMI as just an update to the current VIVO i/o on the standard cards.

It will most likely be flaunted as an upgrade to AVIVO when it's built-in. It enables lower-end cards to decode a 1080p signal...as remember the x1300/1600 series can only decode up to 720p using the gpu. I imagine the gpu power of the next-gen lower-end products would be able to do this themselves...but obviously whatever the tech is helps as they are releasing a x1300 (rv550) that can decode 1080p because of it, as opposed to just as a stand-alone solution for TV's. Perhaps it's also part of the RS690 chipset? Wouldn't be surprised.

As for nn_step's comment...I think of it more like system on a chip here we come. AMD essentially combined NB/CPU (with HT perhaps allowing for a SB replacement). Nvidia's RSX GPU has elements of a southbridge. VIA combined the NB/SB on a chip with vx700 (not the only example). NB/SB/GPU on one die is coming soon on mobos from ATi (rs690+sb600) and CPU/GPU are combining into one chip shortly after that. What's the next logical step when transistor processes allow the allocation? Granted...I don't expect any jack-of-all-trades to be great, but a lesser generic solution compared to individual chips in each category in said time frame certainly seems possible in the not so distant future.
