Intel has about 100,000 employees worldwide, so the cut could be as high as 10 percent of the company's staff.

The previous news was Intel letting go 4000 Managers...this is about 10,000 employees....so its not old.

And no this does not affect conroe. You can still find Hector Ruiz waking up in a sweat at the thought of cheap conroes.

Whoa... what is going on, Intel actually has a SMART CEO now? OMG OMG! What do I do? lol.

Seriously... I've grown up being disappointed by Intel, and now all of a sudden they seem to be trying to play it smart instead of just throwing their weight around?

Way to go AMD! Intel's ready to compete with you on YOUR terms now. Hope you're ready ;)

You must remember Intel the company has many great minds, that are genius when it comes to making things work more effeciently. Including there own company. I know they didnt cut 10,000 jobs because they couldnt afford to pay them, its becasue they didn't need to pay them to continue there success. I guess this is a fact of life.

all companies must restructure to remain efficient and streamlined. Cutting jobs usually is to get rid of redundant areas of research etc. T'is all about efficiency.

The "fat" that is getting trimmed is out of the sales and marketing division where they "discovered" they had far more staff than other companies in the field.
and i thought that intel's sales and marketing is what made intel so good

well i guess recently , they have not been doing so good

maybe all the bullying that intel has done in the past is catching up with it ?

i think that i read some where that cyrix doubled it's market share
