lcd + laptop? help? hp = g@y??

Tryin to do this. HP Pavilion zx5000. monitor is a 20.1" sammy. This is for a friend, he plugged the VGA cables in and hit the ctrl+f8 to switch to extwernal monitor but its not working, whats he forgetting? thanks.

Okay, well its dislaying an image, but its on dualmode so its working on laptop screen and lcd. and he has a 9600 mobility, and we cant get new drivers on it so we cant get a control panel to take it off dual mode. WTF??!?!

well i have an HP Pavilion zv5000 and for mine it's fn+f4 with an icon on f4 resembling |[ ]| your laptop may be different but i'd say try disabling dual monitors then pressing the video out key again
