The results I've seen from thousands of threads are incredibly erratic, so I'd like to hear from you guys. Which would you choose and why? Is one better in a given application than the others?
Sound off!

I'm getting the p5w cause I want crossfire, otherwise I would have gone for the p5b

Is P5B DLX realy better than P5W DH DLX even for E6600 (Conroe)???
A bit off-topic question, is it real that you can run run SLI on P5W DH DLX(and CF offcourse), with right drivers?

I'd like to know this as well. Should I swap my P5W for a P5B Deluxe?

I think P5B D. I have been reading about this board lot of things. Nice oc results and good performance. And i like that this board has ICH8R so i can use Intel Raid. And now its support 7950GX2 so thats all what i need.

I am going for the P5WD2G-WS Pro. The P5B Deluxe is just too weird...can't run 300+ FSB reliably, but CAN run 400+ FSB??? Just a little too abnormal for my taste. I had one and it didn't even want to be stable at E6600 stock settings, where the DH worked fine. The DH is just a little to "mickey mouse" for me, ASUS seems to have gone overboard on the bells and whistles of some of their models now. So, between the three it is the WS Pro. (Sorry if the WS Pro is "off topic" but someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread.)

Thanks guys, looking good so far. It seems the P5B DLX is the choice so far.
One of the questions I have yet to see answered is does the P5B really hold water with high multi's. It seems many of the best results on the P5B are with 6400's. Or this just a user budget issue because I see a lot of P5B/DS3 setups with 6300 and 6400's but mostly P5W setups with the 6600 and 6700.
I'll admit, I'm an ASUS fanboy but I was about 99% set on getting a DS3 with a 6600. Lately though I've been leaning towards the P5B.
Keep 'em coming!

heh, I've had the same issues as aamsel.. can't run between 300-399 reliably no matter what voltage settings I specify or even leaving them all on "auto" but 400+ works fine. 399 won't boot windows, while 400 is orthos stable.
If that's a problem for you, I recommend the DS3 and an E6400. Otherwise get the P5B Deluxe and just set it above 400. :)

I've used both P5WDH and P5B-Deluxe and my i prefer P5B way more.
P5WDH was giving me many troubles (usb, sata) that magically disapperaed after i swapped it for my P5B.
Very stable and ocable board. I'll post tomorrow my reasults with a 6400,

Another vote for the asus p5b deluxe.
Just swapped my bad axe for this and have to say it's an excellent motherboard. Can overclock a lot better aswell. Me loosing the option off crossfire doesnt bother me.

you sure the p5b is fully fonctionnal with the 7950GX2 ?

Well, I just ordered a P5B Deluxe an hour ago to replace my P5W DH.
That'll make my 3rd C2D mobo, hehe. Hopefully it will combine some of the 965 aspects of my DS3 with some of the ASUS, Intel Matrix RAID aspects of my P5W DH.
Lookin' forward to it and I'll surely post results.

People have valid reasons to compare P965 and 975X. Motherboard manufacturers concentrated on 2MB L2 cache chips with Conroe launch according to availability forecast, so these new P965 boards are still immature for 4MB L2 cache chips compared to 975X boards which have been out for quite a while.
E6300/E6400 = P965
E6600/E6700 = 975X
Above equation still holds true if you build a rig today. However, I have no idea how it's going to pan out, say, 2~3 months later.

Ironically in the conclusions of that article it reads:
"Certainly this new BIOS makes the ASUS P5B a much more desirable motherboard. We do need to remind readers, however, that we have generally reached even higher overclocks on the 975X chipset when compared 1:1 with the 965P. ASUS has told us they are not finished with this "Conroe Unlock" feature and that they are working on BIOS revisions to also bring Core 2 Duo unlock to 975X chipset motherboards. We have seen hardware modifications to the Intel 975 BadAxe that allow unlocking, and it would be great if ASUS can accomplish the same with a simple 975 BIOS upgrade, as they have on the P5B Deluxe."
The overclocking results of xtreme users seems to be different than that of anand, however, so the P5B may be the more promising buy... at the moment at least.

Then why did my E6600 take LESS voltage to achieve the same stable OC on my DS3 than on my P5W DH?

Rumor? What rumor? What I said - the board manufacturers concentrated on BIOS tuning for 2MB L2 cache chips early on - is a fact. I clearly mentioned that things could and will change over time. I wouldn't quote the person who told me about it so now you can believe what you want. Indeed, if your E6600 clocks better on P965, then by all means I'm glad for you. (no pun intended. And that's the way it should have been)
Why people in this board are so aggressive and like to quote out of the context is beyond me, though.

So, what is all of this I hear about the P5B Deluxe not running stable at any FSB speeds between like 320 and 380? Is this true? What happens when my E6600 doesn't wanna run that high? Should I try an 8x multi? I thought you always wanted to run 1:1 - I don't think my OCZ PLat 800 rev 2 stuff's gonna run that high to get me 3.2GHz/3.4GHz.
Am I missing something? This board's coming tomorrow and I just started reading about the FSB black hole on this mobo.

dont forget the 975X chipset is faster clock for clock than the 965 boards.

P5WDH is better at the same clocks. Yes, P5B&DS3 get more FSB than anything but that depends on CPUcooling - not everyone here has LN2+SteppingB1 :d. On the other side, there are no GFXcards capable of really using the OConroePower except for CF/SLi-combos, which arent possible on P5B or DS3.

My lucky guess is that it's more of a rumour. ;)
I've tested my P5B-Deluxe @ 350 and 375mhz and it's stable.
yall have even convinced me to ditch my P5W for the P5B. time to disassembly.

I'm sticking with my P5W DH for now, just like the new bios for the P5B turned it into an overclocking monster, I feel the same will happen for the P5W DH. This was the board I wanted the most anyway & I only paid $230 for it. As for the serial ata raid issue, since this is my gaming platform I'm just gonna go with one raptor and one drive for storage.
Brahmzy,
Let us know how you fair tonight. I'm very curious. I don't think I'm gonna sleep tonight until ups brings my next 6600 tomorrow. Hoping so much for a L27 or L26:slap:

I just set up my P5WDH tonight and plugging everything in as soon as my video card gets here.
Any idea of when a sweet BIOS is coming for the P5WDH?
