A bit OTT, basically exploits hardware rather than software, like the report saids, more effort than its worth really...

They forgot that without Low level knowledge of the Processor, such efforts would be completely useless

AMD could take it as a compliment.
Like virus makers only target you when ur succesfull.
like most of the virusses are for Windows platform and only a few on the other osses.

Symantec figures that the next stage would be to mix the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the malware to create a single virus that can target both Intel and AMD families.
Perhaps it is time to buy a Power PC based system.

@ Mr. Popo and BlackX.
both of you stop saying dirty things like: Stop downloading pr0n or lets buy a powerPC.
if powerPC were big and stuff there would also be viruses that target those specificly.
there being viruses that hunt for you only means ur a succes.
my idea is to simply form a gang and hunt down the people that make mallware and shoot them and stuff.
it being that Symantec etc already has found evidence ofit will mean that they are already working on a defense onit.

You could shoot the man but never cancel your p0rn downloads.
Could be that Symantec made that virus and now they are "first" with the antivirus :p:

If computer virus didn't existed how would you profit from them :)

Exactly ;)
Same story with the cell phone viruses. Who was the first to make antivirus?... Yup, Symantec :p:

I believe that aswell.. If there are no viruses, No business for symantec. I bet they make small assorted viruses.

And perhaps its time to stab myself in the eye with a spork....
It was another inq BS - the virus is simply infecting X64 windows... the inq have another "story" explaining it...

Another BS for the INQ, and another BS from LOE bashing Intel.
Great job.

I like jokes. I have no issues with them, but I have issues consuiming BS. The_inq is full of BS, I am not sure about LOE.
Both AMD & Intel are stealing my money for more than 14 years. Why should one of them be my favorite cpu company?
I buy the best "bang for the buck" overclocked system (CPU, RAM and MAINBOARD) and I replace my system once or twice a year.
