I was looking at the utilities downloads on Asus site for the P5WDG2 WS Professional ,
I know what the ASUS Ai Booster Utility is but what are these others,
ASUS Ai Gear V1.00.10
ASUS Ai Nap V1.00.07

Thanks anyone, Dan

They are both part of the Asus iSuite. thats what it is called on my P5B deluxe.

The Nap one basically puts your computer in sleep mode. It will still do work in the background but the monitor shuts off and the fans slow down. A good feature to kep your PC quite when sleeping.

Gear is a utility that has like preset features. it actually looks like a manual shifter on a car. It allows you to choose from "performance" all the way down to "silent running". I think there are 4 presets.

Problems I have with these utilities on my P5B deluxe is this. When coming out of Nap mode the fans kick on at full tilt. They shouldn't. For instance one of my fans is set on silent using the FanQ utility. But when the PC comes back from Nap mode it does not runt he fan at silent. Instead I'm treated to a fully spinning fan. It should not override my options like that. I even wouldn't mind if it did it for a few seconds and went away but it doesn't. It's like it is stuck at that speed no matter what I do. At least until I reboot the PC.

Gear is sort of useless. It's ok if you just want to run at some factory set controls. But I found you can get much better results if you use the FanQ utility. For instance if you set Gear to performance it turns all fans attached to the mobo to full tilt. There is no way to run the CPU fan at full tilt but the chasis fan at a slower speed...unless you use QFan. I found that at least in my setup running the CPU fan at it's fastest setting but turning down the front chassis fan (instead of letting Gear turn it to full tilt) actually gave me the same temps. and at the same time was SIGNIFICANTLY more quiet. Also the Nos utility can not be used at the same time as Gear. I don't use the Nos utility as I don't really think it is beneficial in any way but just a heads up.

Also since I'm sort of on the topic....is there a real good sofware that allows you to control the speed of your fans on your mobo...specifically the P5B deluxe WiFi. I use to use speedfan back in the day but I don't think it is supported on the P5B deluxe is it?

Thanks.
