I just got a new MCP655 and I have a old MCP600. I am wondering if I can put them in series? Will this create problem for either pump? Will I benefit much from it? Room is not a problem. I have a storm, a mcw55, pa120.3 and plan to put in a chipset block later.

only ever use identical pumps in series with eachother, otherwise one will overpower the other, or one will slow the other one down - no good can come of it
the single D5 should do fine, and if need-be, get a second one later

This is incorrect. It's only when the peak flowrate of the lesser pump is reached that it will slow down the higher flowing pump. Running a mcp600 and 655 in series will give you a higher flow rate than either individually in a system since you won't be anywhere near the peak flowrate. As for the the actual improvement in performance, I wouldn't expect much.
