Pump question

Yeah, I know guys, you hear the same questions over and over - sorry to add mine.

Right, well I have 2 AqX 50Z's. Now, I have obtained a Thermochill PA120.3. I have a CM Stacker T01.

I was initially intending to mount the radiator at the top of my case by cutting blowholes etc but having just gutted my case, I've decided to mount it at the base with some fans on top in a pull config pulling in cold ground level air. All my drive bays are going to be used up but there is easily enough space. I will mod the base of my stacker to increase the size of hole to accomodate the PA120.3.

Now, my question. I have 2 of those pumps as I have said. The only problem is not that I do not have a place to mount them! I could put them externally but I'm not sure if I want to. I had a look at the Alphacool DDC+ 18W with the Pro top. This looks a good bet as I can easily sell my current pumps to pay for it.

Considering I have a PA120.3, Maze4 GPU, Storm Rev2 CPU loop (and might add a chipset because as you know the 975X chipsets do get hot but this is not confirmed - the fans blowing right on them should deal with it TBH) should I replace my dual 50Z setup and go for the single DDC+ Pro top and use 1/2" barbs on the threads.

Which of the two is better - I think creidiki said it was likely (in another thread) that the DDC+ Pro would be better than the dual pump setup and considering it can be mounted at the rear fan slot, this looks a good bet!

yes you can mount it at the back, you might want to fashion some scrap aluminum to hold pump to rear 120mm fan, or use some form of elastic bungee cord/rope so as to lessen vibration and provide ventilation to the underside of the ddc.

a picture would be nice so as we can visualize where to put said dual 50z...
picture with everything in place or estimated in place...

Well, there isn't anywhere I can actually put it, hence the question. The only place I can think of is screwed into the very top of the case and suspended there (where the top blowhole is on the stacker - I will however get some pictures done for you. Thanks.

Rather crude, but effective.

The only place I can mount the 50Z's is the top 2 blue spots and the DDC could go at the rear fan blue spot. The only other way is some sort of suspension but I'd rather not do that.

The DDC is a much better solution, so I was wondering if the DDC+ 18W with Alphacool Pro top (no tank) would be as good as my dual AqX 50z's.

not a good idea to place any pump on the top of any loop for they arn't self priming and don't like air passed by it, if so will kill impeller over time.

Cool - that answers my question then really - looks like a DDC-2 will worm its way to me from the states (can get it for only £45 inc delivery) and I'll buy the Pro top separately.

like he said, the pump ain't self priming, you'd better have a t-line or mcres-micro before said pump.

a single ddc ultra with the plexitop should be able to handle your load.

Cool. I've got an MCRES Mirco so that's fine. The 50Z isn't self priming either so I know all about those kinds of pumps.

Doe the plexitop crack easily at all or is it a good polymer (i.e. Asetek cracking tops).
