After reading, reading some more, and reading yet more info from the forums. I've got a build in mind. I'm going to be cooling an E6600 overclocked on a P5W DH Deluxe motheboard. I haven't made up my mind yet on which graphics card i'll be using, and i change those a little to often to include a GPU cooler in the loop. Becuase of the heat-pipe and assoicated PITA with that - i'll be leaving that out of the loop as well.

The pump - Alphacool Laing DDC-Pump 12V Ultra
There are places that also sell this pump with a small res on top. Would that be wise choice for someone (like me) who wants a res? Does it detract from the performacne of the pump?

CPU Block: Swiftech Storm. I've just read to much good about them, and it seems to be the block to match with that pump

Rad: Here it gets tricky. I really WANT A Thermochill PA120.2 - but nobody has them in stock. I just don't have room for a PA120.3 - Other thought, just cooing a CPU i could probably get by with a PA120.1 Going that route, the PA160 may be a better alternative........
My big question is: How would either the PA120.1/.2 or the PA160 perform with the fans in a PULL configuration?

If the above pump w/ RES is a bad idea, I would like to get a bay res, and i'm guessing any bay res will do. Or perhaps even the micro res from Switchtech?

Tubing: Tygon 1/2 ID - 3/4 OD.

hey, obviosly you havent red enough!:slapass:
You do not want the ddc with the res on top! it is a bad res and it dont perform any good. Stick with a t-line. nice pump otherwise though.
and storm is also niche choise with that pump.
if ur shure youll never cool anything else but cpu a 120.2 is plenty, but im 100% confident in that you will not stop there soo... wich case do you have? are you shure you cant fit a 120.3?
And the tubing you want is either tygon 7\16 or masterkleer 7\16
Tygoon is alot more expensive but is slightly more flexible. But masterkleeer is very good so ill stick with that. 1\2 barbs of course (eddy-ek)

1. the PA160 vs PA120.2, the PA120.2 would win by a few degrees i think, try using search option and find MARCI's test on said PAs

2.a. ddc with a res on top is a no no, as it would perform worst than a ddc with original top.

2.b. bay rest sometimes also hard to bleed, because if water line goes below barb intake, you'll just be introducing air again.

2.c. a micro res from swiftech is a nice design for a res, as it bleeds the loop pretty fast. with that divider in the middle... you can get this from swiftnet directly, or from performance-pc with the top g1/4 thread option so as you could add a fillport.

Thanks for the advice folks.
So that does it on the res. PA120.2 over the PA160.2

As often as I break into my PC to work on it, adding other blocks in the loop may not be very suitable. It's not like I'm in the machine "every day" but I do use my machine to do a lot of benchmark/lab work for some review material. So i would like to keep it very simple to do Video card swaps and keep the clutter to a miniumum. That said, Air cooling is just NOT something I want to mess with either. After Intel switched to his horrible preassure clip system for the socket 775, it's H2O for me.

So my last concern is: If i mount the rad on the outside of the case, can i intsall the fans in a PULL config and still have good performance.
