Accelero X1/X2 offer no tangible benefits over stock X1900XT/XTX and 7900GTX coolers.
Not to mention 99% of the time, they increase mb temps by at least 5C.

I disagree fully, I have similar temps to the test conducted by the Madshrimps crew > http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=6&artpage=1793&articID=405

I'm running a VF700Cu on my x1900XT - it's alright, to get adequate airflow into the area and prevent dead spots I needed to aim another 120mm at it. The card stabilizes at ~77'C under full load @~650/775 w/ stock voltage. The setup isn't stellar but it's a lot better than the stock hair dryer.
I've heard that the VF700 works better on these cards than the VF900, that was the rumor anyway (and I happened to have a spare :P).

I had made a review of that cooler on a x1900GT and lowered the core temps for about 10, 12 degree... I think that is a good spend money... If you search this forum or others you will see that VF-900 are allways the best choice... Or watercooling if you have it...

There is also a comparison of them at http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/08/30/vga_heat_pipe_cooler_roundup_2006/
I built a pc with a 1900xt and a vf900 last weekend and it cut the idle temps on the 1900xt by around 20 degrees celsius, haven't had enough time yet to test how it behaves under load, but sofar I am happy with the performance of the vf900 and the sound levels are also much better than stock.

Hrhrhr...funny one ^^
The VF900 is @ full load not even quiet like the X2 and also no direkt monitoring of the fan by the graphiccard.
At full load the '900 is a bit cooler than the X2, but thats a noise alternative.

Correct me if they finally fixed it, but isn't the VF-900 still incompatible with the X1900 series without modifications? But both exhaust the hot air down on to the motherboard, so it's unfair to say this is a negative just against the Accelero. :nono: I want to get a HIS IceQ personnally, but I don't know if they will sell just the cooler.

My experience was exactly the opposite. +12C for the VF900 in Fear.

X2 all the way, just replaced my stock cooler with one, temps and noise are down!
