I just built the old man a new computer cos his old one went bang, it is only a cheap build but just the job for him only thing is it keeps crashing, I tryed reinstalling windows thinking it was maybe just a bad install.
I also overclocked the system thinking it could be cos the RAM was running so slow, as the RAM is 667mhz but cos the FSB was so slow due to the Intel 805 the RAM was set at a lower speed.
Here are the parts used.
Asus P5LD2 SE
Intel Pentium D 805
Artic Freezer Pro 7 (My Old cooler)
NVidia 7300LE
1Gig Corsair XMS 2 PC5400 Cas4
Enermax noisetaker 485watt
I really dont understand it though it will just randomly crash doing anything. The second install of Windows the first thing it did was crash.
I have ran Prime 95 for an hour with no errors and ran Mem test no errors found, I even swapped my RAM with him to check and it was still the same. I have also ran Windows Disk Check to check for errors on the HDD nothing found
Would it be worth me trying to update the BIOS do you think?
Or is it not going to be that?
Dont laugh but could the cheap nasty graphic card be causing the problem?
It crashes everytime when trying to run 3dmark 03 it has never got past the second test. Other than this it crashes randomly once it did it opening the start menu and it does it quite a bit when browsing the web and scrolling pages.
Any Ideas you can give would be much appriciated and cheers just for reading this massive message.
