Ok I'm about order my Conroe Crossfire rig, just trying to work out a minor thing. I don't know much about the 975x boards and was wondering which one is better?

Rest of the system will be:
E6700
2x 1024mb Cosair XMS2-6400 4-4-4-12
BBATI x1900XTX + BBATI x1900 Master Card
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
2x 250gb WD SE16 SATA HDD

Asus P5W DH? Same price range, better board, lots of potential.

Though, out of your two...DFI...the msi was giving people problems.

Nah the Asus is $50-100 more and I have a thing against them. Every Asus board I've owned has been defective. 10+ of them over the years. -.-

I'ved used both MSI and DFI and trust them. What kind of problems where you getting with your MSI?

VERY Tough choice. The DFI may require modding, the MSI wont.

Just buy whichever is cheaper.

Erm. The 975x Platinum? I hope you're referring to the MSI 975X Platinum POWERUP Edition. The MSI 975X doesn't support C2D.
Get the powerup edition.
