My first post- :shrug:http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99255
Im now looking at this- http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=112393
Im sure I'll be asking a few stupid questions so bare with me. This will be my second intel build, first was a pentium 166mhz. Im mostly a gamer and storage junky and I've become use to 35+dbs of noise. Im looking for silence and performance. I will be cooling a E6600 retail and a 1900xtx... no crossfire or sli.
Parts
Cpu-E6600
PS-Enermax Liberty ELT620
Motherboard-trying to figure out
Case-U2-UFO
As far as water parts, everything in the top link except t fittings and fillport. I would like to use a Swiftech MCRES-MICRO res so I can check water levels. Later on down the line I might try to be like a lot of you and go for the t fittings/fillport.
Also the pump, there are two small holes, one in and out. Looking at the pump from the very front with holes facing toward you, which is in and out or does it say on the unit? If im using 7/16" ID Tubing I should use 1/2 fittings for the pump and rad? I've read the stickies as far as cleaning goes as well. :)

Do you guys recommand these for the barbs or something else? There not the most attractive clamps.
Any and all suggestions are welcome, Thanks! :help:

the clamps from Petra will do the job perfectly,
as to the pump question, if you mean a DDC, looking towards the holes, the hole in the middle is the inlet and the one on the side the outlet, but if you understand this common design of pumps like this, it should be obvious,
anyway you should really get a 18w red impeller DDC with an acrylic top (I now of Radiical and Alphacool tops)

Where can I get such? http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=135&cat=4&page=1 Is that it? Kinda guessing no and is it a good deal louder or nah? I can deal with it being louder if its not radical.
Edit- think I found it, its a bit out of my price range though.http://www.radiical.com.au/products/pumps.asp All the way at the bottom. Let me know which one, I dont really want to have to buy a seperate top. Would like to get the pump with everything already set but if thats not possible then just let me know. :)

as a recap, you should post what you have now(water cooling parts) so we could continue to give you good advice for your $$$...
hmm not to sermon/spank/bash you or anything but you have that u2-ufo case costing above $250 and you would want to cost-cut on the best pump out there? some even have 2 of these pumps in a single ufo case...

but they are the most secure clamps...

mcres-micro, try performance pc, go with the top g1/4 thread option so you could still use said fillport.. also dont forget to buy the extra g1/4 fitting...
as for the t-line and fillport, get the delrin fillport or brass, dont get aluminum
even if its coated/treated/etc etc... definitely no mixing of copper and aluminum...

I havent purchased any of the watercooling parts yet as I want to buy all of it at the same time to "try" to save on the shipping (if possible) lol. I do appreciate everyones help.
That pump I posted at dangerden, its the 18watt version? Seems cheap I agree I should not skimp on the pump and will go with a nice dcc+. I'll get those clamps as well :).
So
Pump: DDC-12V Rev2 Plus
http://www.dangerdenstore.com/produc...&cat=23&page=1
Pump Top: Alphacool Acrylic Top

Res-http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=318&products_id=3615
I dont plan on geting a t-line/fillport but I'll buy the thread for future use. Anything else for the pump and top besides the AquaXtreme 1/2" HiFlow Fittings? Again thanks and sorry for all the hassle, I'll take good pictures when everythings all set up :D

Might wanna get some Gel Stuff from Petra's for vibration isolation when mounting the pump....other than that you're all set regarding pump and top

Also, if you might can wait a few days/weeks, Petra will be having his own version of a DDC top coming out. HOPEFULLY, it will be less expensive than the alphacool/radiical version.
However, that implies waiting...

windforce - supposedly it does, of course don't forget the o-ring and to properly tighten - not over tighten - the screws.
direwolf - for the ufo case obviously a thermochill PA120.3 is required...
try getting one from dangerden, i hear a PAGLAN06 for 20% discount is nice
also if you want to get a shroud for this PA, 1 or 2...
Direwolf

septim, what do you mean by a shroud 1 or 2? I do plan on geting a shroud but you can only use one right? lol I think I might get that t-line and fillport, it will take more time to leaktest but it would lessen the length of the tubes right? For the fillport should I get the perfect seal or highflow? The latter?
I do appreciate the code :D I will use it well
septim

the shroud you could use 2, for a push and pull config optional...
or just use some cardboard and duct tape like what some others are doin...
always use HIGH FLOW (G1/4 or BSPP1/4 and not 9/16)
the tubing longer with a T-line, because your using tubing for that TLine...
also Fillport from dangerden get brass or delrin not aluminum

The pa120.3 only comes with enough screws for 3 fans? Came with a gasket, I think I'll return the shroud... not worth it from what you guys say and it takes up a lot more room in the case if you use two (hell even one). More thoughts later when the case is here.
septim
09-04-2006, 06:47 PM
hehe, so its optional really...
use it when you plan on putting yates at 5volts to squeeze the most performance coolling from the PA rad...
(on very low cfm fans the shroud is highly recommended...)

One shroud using Yate Loon fans in a pull configuration works great and there is plenty of room in the U2 for it.

The Alphacool plexi top fits perfect on the DDC. It comes with (4) screws and simply replaces the existing top.

The pump gets hot? I see some heatsinks at the bottom there. Btw the tops sexy lol
When you guys say pull, your talking about pulling the air out of the case threw the front? Also if I plan on push pull config.. I should set it where it pushs from the front of the case and pulls from the back of the rad out the case or push from inside the case and out from the front of the rad? Is it even worth buying extra fans for a push pull? Im using yate loons at regular speed. Thanks :D

for a ufo case i see usual case-fan-rad, take a look at Sneaky's project Illuminati
well you could do it front as intake, top(optional on ufo case) either intake or exhaust and the back usually exhaust.
its usually cool air from front or top enters case and leaves at the back most of the time...

yes it gets hot, but heat dump into water loop is usually negligible, its your choice if you want to raise pump a little to allow airflow underneath
or just mount it directly...

Yes I positioned the pump so it would be a right discharge facing the pump. I also wanted the front fan to blow directly on the back of the pump for cooling reasons.

You want the cooler air entering from the front of the case and "pulled" through the rad to be exhausted at the back of the case.

Should I have the barbs at the top or bottom for the pa120.3. Seen some people have the barbs at the top and the bleed screw at the bottom.
Thanks

I already have all the parts except my storm nickel barbs. I'll be using the plastic pos that comes with it for a good while, the nickel will be here in a few days. I'll switch over later on since I cant wait to play with it.
I just want to know if the rad-barbs should be at the bottom so I can bleed it with the screw or should I just leave them at the top? Im going t-line

@SiGfever: this top has 1/4'' threads, so do you have 1/4'' tubes on it or 1/2'' (7/16'')? I mean I want 7/16'' and was wondering if I will have to buy some converters or what?
septim
09-10-2006, 06:38 AM
the barbs position is entirely up to you, basically the shorter tubing with no kinks wins...
also when bleeding i had my PA on the table to be able to tilt and turn it to let air escape, even with bleed screw on top some air bubbles tend to hide in the corners...
oridinally posted my marauder16:

the 1/4 threads mean that the barb we're most likely to use has G1/4 threading with 1/2OuterDiameter for our 1/2 or 7/16 tubing.
we can fit a 7/16 Inner diameter tubing on 1/2barbs, especially metal barbs, but sometimes a little boiling or very warm water dip in tube 5 secs then slide onto barb would be alright...

I've asked around some and im looking for these connectors?
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/images/products/LAING_DDC_Pro_01.jpg
Where you can mount the pump in a 3.5 inch bay. See the little screwed in mount screws (4 of them) 2 on each side of the pump that allows you to mount it in the bay? I cant find the damned things anywhere! Maybe im looking in the wrong place.
any helps appreciated

If you are referring to Alphacool plexitop, such rubber mounts are already included in the package. There are 8 of them (2x uncoupling sets of 4 dampers). If you are trying to source them additionally, you could either buy them directly from Alphacool (part number 13701 & 13505) or maybe:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/2318/ex-tub-66/Innovatek_Vibration_Dampening_Mounts_500277.html?t l=g30c107
or
http://www.coolercases.co.uk/wc_accessories.htm
Pump Mounting Kit (x4)
(not sure where you are)
Anyhow, they are called the vibration dampening mounts or antivibration pump mounting kit .. if that could help also. Also, you need mounts with the M4 threaded parts.

I just bought the top from performance pc for around 30 bucks, It came with just some screws to change the top. Thanks for the links, im in the usa. Im wanting 13701 or the one from coolercases. But its around $50.00 usd to get from them
Dont really like messing around with washings or nuts like the Innovatek one and there even out of stock. Hmm!

If I have just one gasket for the pa120.3 and im doing push pull. Should I put the gasket on pull or for push. I've been told to put it at the back of the rad for pull. The gasket should always be before the fans correct?
which is right?
