I bought one of these to plugin to a alphacool DDC pump top

So how do I wire up a single 5mm led. I looked at some guides but there all for hooking up series/multiple led's. I just need to wire a single one.

Voltage: 3.3-4.0V
Current: 20mA

Go here (http://www.metku.net/index.html?path=mods/ledcalc/index_eng) it is a resistor calculator for single or multiple LED setups.

Well, I'll try to sum it up in a nutshell...

LEDs run off of current. So, using V=IR, calculate the current you need given your source voltage. Then, use that resistor that will provide that current, and put the LED in series with that resistor. Now, the resistor will limit the current hta flows through the LED so you won't burn it out.

If you tell me what your source voltage is, I'll tell you what size resistor you need to use.

I would assume you will use the 5v off a molex, in that case:

Assume the voltage drop to be 4v, current in the diode to be 20ma. To get all that you need a 56ohm resistor with atleast a 1/8w rating.

I did alot of led jobs in my old P4 system, it worked well but wasnt as pretty as I had intended :P

If you wanna be hardcore look into somthing like a LUXIV thats the LED I used for my DIY bike light that lets me mountain bike in the woods at night.
