When i remove both sticks of ram it will start beeping but with either stick of ram in any slot the system wont even POST. It just sits there with the power on. Is this actually the RAM? and if it is is there a possible BIOS fix or am i SOL?

If i'm SOL i'll prolly just go out and buy those G.Skill HZ's everyone here rants about. People have had success with them on P5B Deluxe right?

Definately the ram i just stuck some patriot PDC21G6400LLK in and it worked fine.

Would it be better for me to return my OCZ ram and buy some G.Skill or RMA the ram for some rev 2?

Stick in the patriot ram and bump the vdimm to 2.1v, shut down and stick in the OCZ.

that doesnt seem like a preferable option seeing as i currently have the option to return the ram for a full refund -shipping.

What do you mean? Most likely the OCZ isn't working because the default voltage is not enough for it to operate correctly. If you move the memory voltage up just a notch it should work.

I agree with Cup, it will work.

What confuses me is why do all these launch motherboards have problems with ram that requires higher voltage? Just seems like they didn't take the time to research DDR2 voltages or something.

they have problems because

1)
the mobo makers are goofy and think everyone who buys their overclocking supposed high performance motherboards will be using generic ram which only takes 1.8/1.9v. So they dont program the motherboards to read the voltage of the SPD properly and thus increase the voltage automatically.
2)
ram makers are goofy. they make this ram to only boot at very high voltages that they KNOW wont work on any board simply because the board cant provide enough voltage. They arent programming the ram to run at a lower Dram Freq. to allow it to boot at lower voltages.

both sides of the fence are to blame with no blame being heavier on either side.

personally i think its the motherboard who should be reading the ram properly.
if it sees it is not posting and the internal error code that comes back to the motherboard is a low votlage ram issue then the motherboard should step up the voltage 0.1v at a time. let it try that 2 or 3 times and if it wont boot then.. ok... it wont boot at all.
no sense in frying the ram but at the same time the board should be reading the ram and also understanding the internal error codes that it recieves during POST or pre-POST.

one day maybe... :\

on a side note this is the first time i have NOT seen this ram boot on that board i believe.

even the DS3 boots up the DDR2 800 GTX so either the ram is bad or the mobo is seriously fubar'd.
i dont know what to say but try increasing the voltage to 2.1v and swap the ram.
just see if it boots if it still wont boot then i would point towards the ram as the issue.
also if you have a local friend with a DDR II system try it in theirs see what it does.

also have you physically reset the cmos.,, again i havent seen anyone complaining that this ram doesnt work on the P5W.

have to see if the OCZ guys chime in about compatability.

p.s.

if your overclocking dont... run stock and see what it does.

Ya, I have to agree with Lestat here....I've heard of no one having issues with the P5WDH and OCZ (2.1V or so), so I'm leaning to belive that you just have a bad set....

So you all would suggest that i stick with my OCZ ram rather then get some GSkill HZ? its only like $40 more + Shipping. and if it means aleviating hedaches i'm willing to spend that.

If it won't boot, we will take care of it, send me an email, let me know where we talked, email is in my Sig.

if you can borrow some ddr2 stick from friend try flash the bios to newest beta 0605.

newest beta BIOS for Asus P5B deluxe : 0605
1. Fix Kentsfield CPU incorrect issue
2. Add patch for OCZ2G8002GK-6400 <- !!!!!!
3. Add patch S3 suspend function not stable when CPU FSB over 300MHz

I have this same memory, but i am thinking about motherboard....
