Hey guys,
I run into some weird overclocking trouble here. Let me tell you what is in the System.

AOpen i975Xa-YDG Motherboard (latest official Bios R1.08 or so)
Intel Core Duo T2250 @ 200mhz (jumperless) with AOpen heatsink
Seagate 400gb PATA
Samsung Lightscribe DVDRW
2gb GEiL PC2-5300 Ultra CL 3 4 4
580W Hiper-R Power Supply
Radeon X800 Pro

First problem is that i can't get Dual Channel to work i got 4gb of this memory here i know that i can only use 2 of them but Computer does not boot into Windows when i set it up as Dual Channel memory.

Second Problem is that it does not keep overclocking changes i make in the bios.

For example it boots fine and runs prime stable at 200mhz FSB and VCore right now is 1.2V. So i got a total of 2.6ghz but i bought this cpu to experiment and see what it can do since it has the 13 x ratio.
However even if i increase just 1mhz and reboot it will not take it. Of course i tried different things including raising the voltage up and other settings.

I simply have no idea anymore what else I could try. It is already unusual that i can't run it with dual channel (even if the cpu runs on standart voltage and 133mhz FSB). I tried exchanging the sticks of memory with no results.

I would appreciate if somebody has an idea i could use.

Thanks

Here is a screen shot of the CPU Z T2250 Stepping maybe somebody can tell me right a way its the cpu and that would fix my problems.

you can oc without sp2, it seems that SP2 has enable EIST,and can not disable

I m not quiet sure what you mean. SP2 (service pack 2) ? The issue is already there before it starts into Windows. And right now i use Vista Beta 2 as Operating System.

Hey, i recognize you from Slickdeals! Hello and welcome!

You are only trying to use 2x1GB right? Have you tried using the Black Slots as opposed to Blue Slots, vice versa? Try setting memory to SPD as opposed to Manual and make sure its on the 533MHz divider. obviously, make sure ECC is not on

Well your CPU is not very common in that mobo AFAIK, and it runs at a lower FSB. Maybe a 166 MHz FSB pin mod would help. Check out my thread about the pinout and links to docs (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=88297).

Ok after 1 hr talking to AOpen techsupport they think the board is the issue that the clock gen's on the board might be defective.

@ Ramen: Yeah i m at SlickDeals sometimes ;).

Here is what i do, i bought a new board today, will RMA the one i got.

@ Mats: I appreciate the idea but for the moment i will stay away from the pin modding until i can figure out what this processor is capable of. My idea is that this cpu should at least as good as a T2600 in overclocking since my believe is that it is a T2600 just with a fixed FSB of 533 instead of 667. However I will have a replacement board in 2 days and see what i can do.

Thanks for the help.
