Hi guys, hope you don't mind me asking but I'm having trouble deciding which board to get for my first build (and first overclock).
I know it's early days but I need to order pretty soon, preferably today.
I'll be using an E6400, GeIL 6400 Ultra RAM and a Freezer 7 Pro. If I can hit 2.8-3Ghz I'll be very happy. Kentsfield support would be great.
Which would you get, Gigabyte DS4 or MSI 975X PowerUp?
Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi
I could not make my mind up over the motherboards as well i have an E6400 and a E6600 ,but i had the chance to play with the MSI Power Up 975x and the Asus P5B Deluxe.
I aslo had some of the Geil memory and it is not very good at all limited my overclocking.

Nice, I'm interested to get the 965 chipsets but ATI's RD600 is another reason for my wait :)

You will get higher clocks out of the DS3 but trust me the MSI is much faster. Just to compare to day187.
notice the 200mhz less clock. My DS3 is back in the box. Overheats like crazy though the high cpu clocks are awesome that doesn't always turn into performance, atleast for me. I score 250pts higher as well with exact same drivers in 3dmark again with 200 less OC.
MSI will be staying for awhile.

Thanks so much for the replies guys, I'm definitly going for the MSI now! I'm not looking for a huge overclock anyway so it should do very nicely. Plus I know it supports quad-core.
Cheers lads,
Karl
