so i'm trying overclocking for the first time with my new system, and i'm hitting a wall at 323 fsb when from what i've seen i should be able to reach 355 or so.

i have tried increasing the vcore to every setting between 1.35 and 1.51, but even doing so i still cannot get the fsb higher then 323 and stay stable in a orthos blend test. im thinking it has to be some bios option that i have wrong, so i listed parts of the bios below...

mobo is a ASUS P5B Deluxe WiFI-AP Edition (bios 0507)
conroe E6600 week23
mem is 2gigs of OCZ DDR2-800

BIOS settings:
JumperFree Configuration:
AI Tuning Manual
CPU Freguency 323
DRAM Frequency DDR2 - 646MHz
PCI Express Frequency Auto
PCI Clock Synchronization Mode Auto
Spread Spectrum Disabled
Memory Voltage 2.1V
CPU VCore Voltage 1.3500V
FSB Termination Voltage Auto
NB VCore Auto
SB VCore (SATA, PCIE) Auto
ICH Chipset Voltage Auto
North Bridge Chipset Configuration
Memory Remap Feature Disabled
Configure DRAM Timing By SPD Disabled
DRAM CAS# Latency 4
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay 5 DRAM CLOCKS
DRAM RAS# Precharge 4 DRAM CLOCKS
DRAM RAS# Activate to Precharge 15 DRAM CLOCKS
DRAM Write Recoverty Time 6 DRAM CLOCKS
DRAM TRFC 42 DRAM CLOCKS
DRAM TRRD 10
Rank Write to Read Delay 10
Read to Precharge Delay 10
Write to Precharge Delay 10
Static Read Control Auto

any idea why i cant get the fsb higher?

Try locking the PCI-E frequency to 100 and the PCI frequency to 33.33.

tried, no effect.

Have you tried enabling SPD?
Have you tried OCing with one stick of RAM? (If your RAM is limiting you)

when i put SPD on i cant even get 323 out of it. but turning it off i can set the timings to 4-5-4-15 as it says on the OCZ site.

i have not tried using only one stick, how would that help?

What are you using for your cpu heatsink? And your psu? They will also affect your oc.

Try 5-5-5-15 as this is the actual SPD reading for that RAM - I've got the same week E6600 and the same RAM (plat el, right?) Also try 5-6-6-18.

whether you tried the pci-e at 100 and pci at 33 dont run them at auto.
lock them at 100/33 all the time.

which bios are you using, i have seen people with this same issue report the exact same problem and it goes away after updating to a new bios.
there are LOTS of threads about this motherboard have you checked those yet ?

heatsink is a cheap gigabyte cooler, but temps are staying mid 40's cause the voltage isnt high. psu is an antec true power 2 550w.

tried timing at 5-5-5-15 and it ran, so then i up'd the fsb to 330 and vcore to 1.46 and it failed. why do you say that its 5-5-5-15 when ocz has it listed at 4-5-4-15? yea its the plat el. OCZ2P8002GK. i'll try 5-6-6-18 now.

locked the pcie at 100/33.

bios is 0507---most recent
yes i have read those threads, i spent 2 days reading them before making a post. i havent been able to find anything about the settings for this model that other people have been runing successfully...but if you are seeing something i'm not then let me know.

I noticed you have NB VCore set to auto. Try setting it to the maximum voltage available.

I guess we had enough of P5B Deluxe posts not going higher than 320 FSB. I'm at 425mhz FSB with bios 0502 and everything on auto. 0507 just doesn't work for most people.

fsb 330, vcore 1.40, 5-6-6-18 failed orthos
turned the nb vcore up to 1.65(max) and it ran for a while longer but still failed.
should i adjust FSB Termination Voltage, SB VCore, or ICH Chipset Voltage?
zizo do you have a week 23 chip? i'll try changing the bios tomorrow if i cant get anything else to work.

Are you using bios 0502? My chip is week 25. auto MCH, auto FSB, vcore 1.375v.

I'd definitely give the 0502 BIOS a try. They let me get my FSB about 30 mhz higher than the 0507. My 6400 should have some room to go but I think ASUS' BIOS are holding me back. I get a lot of rounding errors when I try to push past my current OC regardless of what voltages I set. It also has nothing to do with RAM for me.

i turned the vcore up to 1.475, and kept timing at 5-6-6-18, nb vcore at max and fsb at 330 and its stable at 15 min right now, which isnt proveing it, but its promising since it usually fails in the first 2 min when i'm over 323. ill def try 0502 as well.

Ok im late at this point but...

...the P5B Dlx with 0507 has an FSB pit, more accuratly from 330/340 ~ 390/395.

I was having problems running mine @ 330, used all the tricks in the book and no go. She was unstable, at one point she lasted 30 seconds in windows at only 350, even with max NB vcore.

So you jump directly to 400, from there adjust CPU and RAM ratio at will. And leave voltage alone. no NB VC needed.

She will boot fine, 200% stable and still beggin for more FSB :toast:

Hoping this helps mate.
