I read a post from FCB that the E6700 Retail was unlocked. However, mine as well as a few others are in fact locked. I read an article that the only multi allowable on the Bad Axe is x10 from within the bios. The bios has no option to unlock multi but when you put in a x6800 the option becomes available.

What's the deal?

Just stated issue, I'd really like a special bios with this feature, cause it will be possible downwards.

- Its in xtreme overclocking section, and with P5W, but the same issue, just another board...

Hope Oskar Wu or someone as skilled will help us out :)

maybe it's 975x issue? the 965 boards all allow it as of newest p5b bios

No, EIST works as well, you just cant do it from bios cause its not an option, from windows with crystalcpuid its no problem..

My DQ6 965P would allow me to change the Multiplier (down)
My Badaxe 975X wouldn't!

It has to be the limitation of the actual chipset from BIOS. Since the 965 has no issues, it proves the theory. Should be unlocked with NV and ATI chipsets as well.

I believe it's the BIOS issue since I know many people were able to change multipliers with ES chips. AT review, while it's old, even said that they could change multies on 975 but not on 965. Anyhow I'm also hoping ASUS release a BIOS that'd unlock the downward multies on P5W-DH.
