When do U plan to switch from 939 to AM2 ???

i wont change for some time... the performance is equal (if 939 isnt even better).
only k8l might be worse the upgrade, but today i would get conroe and not am2 if i upgrade.

i got s939 fairly recently, and wont really bother switching in the near future especially since im in college... in '07, ill see, probably either a k8l opty, or if thats not availabe, either wait for desktop k8l in 08 or get penryn if it winds up to still be faster than k8l.

AM3 comes out either late next year or sometime in '08. Might be worth waiting for. I plan on going to AM2 because it would be stupid to buy a S939 CPU when AM2 are the same price. Plus I already have a gig of good DDR2 memory, so I would only need to drop $120 or so for the RAM. For around $500, I could do basically a complete rig overhaul (CPU, mobo, RAM). Then I could sell the old CPU, mobo, and RAM to get a new PSU and maybe some watercooling stuff. That's what I plan on doing later this year.

waiting until AM3 and K8L. Yeah I know K8L will come out for AM2 as well but I see it like 754 vs 939 - Both are Athlon 64 capable but 939 is better for some obvious reasons. Same probably goes with AM2 vs AM3.

I usually keep my computers for 4-5 years, then get a top model. Before this AMD X2 4800 (november'05), i had a dual-cpu p3, 2x750 MHz (july 2000) and before that i had a P200 (june 1996), so if i stick to my habits, i'll probably not get a new computer until some time 2009-2010, and let's see then what suits me best. If getting a new computer today, i'ld probably go for core2duo or possibly the xeon 5160.. haven't checked them out and compared them good enough to tell for sure.

Ill wait till next year and AMD's new cpu. I have great optys (146, 148, and 170) that run well with my Mach II. If anything Ill throw together my first H20 setup to cool my X1900XTX and overclock it.

Why to move onto AM2?! I have the 2865mhz opty, 2gigs 250 3-3-3-6, 1t ram, dfi ultra-d. Hmm, nope, not soon. Maybe a new set of hdds for raid0 next month and that's all for this year.

I'm going to wait until AMD owns Intel again. I don't want to buy an Intel CPU so I'm sticking with what I have (the last Intel CPU I had was a P200MMX so many years ago, a friend gave it to me).
