Hi,
I've been working on my E6600 + P5B Deluxe OC and I really need some help. I have been trying multiple things on my own and I'm not asking for hand-holding, but I would like to get this stable (no matter the OC) by Tuesday as that's when I have to call in to reactivate Windows (stupid activation).
I am only partially stable at the settings below, but they are the closest I've come to any type of good performance. It will dual prime small fft for, I dunno, a long time, but one core will usually fail out of dual prime large fft within a half hour, and definitely within an hour (and in as little as 5 minutes).
Core Temp reports between 40 and 45C idle (I turn my AC on and off frequently), and load between 54 and 61C ish. I don't know/care if Core Temp is off in any way, it at least appears to be consistent for me. And I understand that these temps shouldn't be what's affecting stability (because of the success with small fft prime). At 1.3500 Vcore the idle and load temps were still about the same.
I've gone up to 1.3500 Vcore with no improvement in performance. I tried 1.4 northbridge, 1.35 (I think) FSB termination, and I've taken the ram up to 2.1V. By increasing the ram from 1.9 to 2.05 incrementally, I've noticed more stable performance overall. This RAM btw is Corsair XMS2 ddr2-800 with default timings of 5 5 5 12. I tried putting the timings down to 4 4 4 12 and that seemed fine too, so I dunno. It's running at 1:1, and so really it shouldn't be stressed in the least bit at these speeds. According to the new version of CPU-Z, the cpu Vcore is slightly less than what I set in the BIOS, which is confirmed by the bios screens below. I've decided I don't want to exceed 1.35V in any case (although again, that doesn't seem to be the issue).
Increasing the FSB to 333 basically causes dual prime (both small and large fft) to fail pretty quickly. Large fft fails within seconds at that FSB.
Any suggestions you have I will try, or any other tools you think I should use I will be more than happy to try. Screenies below:
