Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 or DFI Infinity 975X??

Hey,

I've got a major dillema, I could either buy the E6400 + Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 which costs like 280$ or the DFI Infinity 975X for like 250$...

Now the main issues are, the gigabyte is chipset # 965, while the DFI is 975X which is supposdly somewhat better, but the gigabyte DS4 is known to be very very high quality while the infinity series is known to be inferior in quality[unlike the LanParty's], so what do I go with? the better chipset and perhaps lower quality or high quality guranteed with lower end chipset??

The prices are what they are in Israel, do not compare it to Newegg.

Tomorrow i'm going to be ordering [final, today I couldn't get to the store afterall] so its really urgent.

one last question..

the 975x infinity has ICH7 southbridge, while the gigabyte has ICH8R....... what is southbridge? whats the diff between an ich7 and ich8r southbridges? Thanks alot!

If the DS4 costs more than the Inifinity... hmm... hard to say. But the DS4 is a great board, and I am sure it will be able to overclock as high as you need it to. But I guess I would go with the cheapest even if it means $30 to spend on better RAM/graphics/monitor or whatever else.

lol and still... whats the diffrence between the southbridges? You both ignored that question.

Also, I have not been able to understand the VCore settings of the 975X Infinity, can anyone explain to me what peak voltages are possible to reach with it?? and are there any mods for DS4/975X?

Yoad, the southbridge just controls basic I/O such as USB, IDE etc. I don't know what the actual difference is between the two listed, but it is not something that is going to effect performance.

Go with the P5B Deluxe, it seems to be the best at max FSB :)
