View Full Version : Asus P5BD, Multiplier adjustable for lower ratios!!!

I cannot believe myself. Today, I changed the CPU ratio of my E6600(Retail not ES) in the BIOS setting of P5BD(0507 bios) just for fun.
Amazingly, it worked!!! If my CPU and board are not exceptionable, Asus P5BD has a real merit for overclocking.

Here are shots.

What's going on this mostrous board! Am I such a fool not to know this plain fact yet? I'm really in a wonder... :D
(If it is sheer known fact, sorry for my crappy posting.)

lots of boards allow lower multis but not many can do 500 fsb that is the real story here good job!

Raising FSB is so easy...
Is the ratio adjustment really common knowledge in XS?

Yeah, nice FSB. :D
The lower the multiplier, how further you can go.

wow nice, what vcore for 550 fsb? :O and week 26????

johnsally
08-20-2006, 05:24 AM
Yes, it is known that multipliers can go down on retail, nothing new. nice fsb by the way

anarinsk
08-20-2006, 05:25 AM
vcore is 1.25v(gauged by multimeter)
vdimm is 2.40v(same as before)
vmch is 1.40v(same as before)

Just adjusting ratio made this result...

Man, I want a Conroe. Do you think I can get one for (checks wallet) R 150 (about $ 25)? lol.

How much higher can you send the FSB?

I'm simply an idiot! :) I don't know that it can be adjustable in BIOS setting.
I'm not able to test to the extreme because I've made my system for practical using state. At now, In 550, dual 32M super pi is running stable.

Sorry. I'm not a US resident. :) I want to test my system till the end! But, tomorrow is Monday by my local time. :( :( :(
I should sleep not to be out of my job. :D

With air-cooling, 420, 430 is maximum FSB in 9X.
I hope that DI cooling make much nice result. :)

I dont see anywhere in the bios to change the Mutli for the P5W DH Deluxe.

Is it becasue of the bios version im using (801 here) ?????

If so whats the latest bios version that allows the multi to be changed

Thanks

Whats the max period as far as mhz goes? How fast can she go? These boards are great, im looking for the fabled 8x-500fsb. It probably can do 4ghz just needs more vcore I bet... but you need to keep your cooling in check.

My P5BD didn't like bios 0507, so I"m using 0502 and it doesn't have this option. It should be the ram timing problem. Still, a 425 mhz FSB is good for auto voltage. :)

Can you please try and run a sandra mem bandwidth above 500FSb?? I can go to 530 sp2004 and game stable with no problem. but after 480FSb my bandwidth score in sandra and everest go´s way down from 7500mb/s to like 216mb/s. also windows shows mky cpu run 425mhz. spi scores are normal though:) Thx!

Someone here mentioned that with the 0507 BIOS, the option to change the multi was available.......I'm looking forward in setting up my rig tomorrow.

Maybe I can get it to that same specs. Nice OC there anarinsk

now i REALLY can't wait for my Core 2 Duo..

Looks like the P5BD is a real winner.

Is this the wifi version? If not, anyone know if that will affect the boards FSB ability?

I think there is only the P5B Vanilla and the P5B Deluxe WiFi at the moment.

Yes I know :( otherwise I'm happy with that bios , requires less voltage for o/c chips

and today my cpu idle temp is 36° @1.48v :)

Obviously I was wrong. Ram start flying with 2.35v
Too bad the CPU hits it's limit there, gonna try with 7x multiplier later.

anarinsk, do you have 2 identical 1GB G.Skill sticks? The part number that CPU-Z reports is for a single, 1GB stick but it also says you have 2GB total.

I think I've found my motherboard and memory... thanks for sharing! :D
