On Gigabyte DS3, e6600... With FSB at higher than 320 it fails memtest in windows instantly. I've tried switching memory slots from orange to yellow, overvolting up to +4v, and even at 5-5-5-15 it won't pass ... this is far below its rated timings... I read the DS3 thread, at least the first 6+ pages and I know there are some memory problems but I was under the impression that with F4 bios (which I have) those problems have mostly been solved... at least to the point of allowing me to run at stock ratings???

Also, how does one use a memory divider in the DS3 bios, I only see options for 2, 2.5, 3 and so on, I'm assuming that using a 2 means 2xFSB?

Many test reports told us that DS3 is a very nice oc board for C2D, but some friends of mine had tested it and found some strange and unaccountability problems in overclocking, such as FSB adjusting ,memory timing tweaking, etc.

They also found there are some problems in compatibility of VGA card

I think DS4 or DQ6 would be better choices

I honestly don't have 500 bucks to blow playing around with them. I'd prefer to work on the board I have ;)

 Hmm...So test another ram or vga card?

No man I'm hoping to resolve the issue with the products I have now, as people have been making steady progress doing so. I created this thread to hopefully catch the attention of TG reps or anyone with knowledge of this area specifically. If you send me some ram I'll try it. I'm in college and I don't have a bunch of 2-300 dollar pieces of hardware lying around just in case

How much ram voltage are you using? Try lowering it to no higher than 0.2. I had the same problems with memtest failing until I lowered dimm voltage.

hehe I don't think you understood my meaning, I just told u that u can test another mb, ram or vga card...not to buy new ones. Don't u have some friends who got them u can borrow just for test?

I advised u to do that because I thought the problems may be on compatibility, of course i hoped not so that u need to buy no more.

I did conclude this all because i saw many people who got DS3 and met the similar problems as yours, they changed board and finally they solve the issue

Still hope u can solve this issue asap:rolleyes:

Yep, DS3 has RAM compatibility issues. I had TeamGroup ram for testing and couldn't oc a single Mhz :slapass: on this board although they can do 550

My corsair D9 have problems only above 500 1:1

DS4 and DQ6 have the same problems as DS3, the only reason to buy DS4 is dualbios... and not too high price (in my shop DS4 is like 10-15$ more)
oh, and DS4 have some decent cooling

DS4 seems to be DQ6 - bioses from DQ6 work with DS4 - but don't try it ;)

if i were buying it now i'd buy DS4...

Hmmm, perhaps it is slowly burning itself in then, even if I was below stock. Now it seems to be solid so far at 660 @ 5-5-5-15 with .2v+

DS3 won't work well w/ some 7600GS, but DS4 & DQ6 don't have this issue
